personal license plate-CA
I tried to get on in Arizona after a friends idea...
It was the plate that has all the childrens hands around it, and it says around the plate, "It shouldn't hurt to be a child."
I wanted the plate to read: "BEATKDZ" - yeah that didn't fly.

according to a few cops i talked to, they do.
the captain won't say "pull someone over every" x amount of time, but they do say "i like to see action every 10-15 minutes". if you've got pulled over recently, you knw how long they take writing tickets. by the time they get back on the road, it's time to pull someone over--or the captain jumps down their throat. but chp aren't real cops anyway. they're meter maids of the freeways.

cops are CROOKED. are they really out there to serve and protect? i doubt it... they serve TICKETS, that's for sure, and as far as protection? shoot cops arrive at the scene after the "bad" has already occured... i've NEVER felt safe around a cop.. just straight PARANOID!
now are there good cops out there? well, what's a good cop anyway? the one's that let you go off with a warning? hehe... whatever. don't get me started on cops!

yeah I agree, just look at fumanchu!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a buddy that is a VERY close friend, he says the same ****. He told me, that if you run from the cops, and the news isnt watching, exspect to get your *** beat. He also said that it takes a lot of crap on your record as an officer before you will get fired, IE bad cops get protected by the union.

How about this idea
MZDARA-T
Oh, and as to ticket quota's. I doubt you could ever find anything in writing about a stated quota per se. But I'm sure there is a known statistical average daily number of tickets that is well discussed amongst our all to often arrogant friends. Lets say that number is 40. Do you think you'll get a pat on the back from your duty commander if you only write 5 during your shift? Said differently, come 6-month review time, if over those 6-months you only average 10 tickets a day what kind of job review do you think you'd get?
Don't know if 40 is the right number, but you get my drift. Maybe not a formal number, but there is a quota for all intents and purposes.
Fu-man-chu, care to comment?

Not to start a **** fest, as that is what usually happens, but I think you are on the right path. If there is money involved, somebody, somewhere is tracking the amount of income, and looking for ways to increase that revenue stream. It is simple business 101.
I know nothing about how law agencies track tickets, or if there are quotas, but one thing that is for sure, if you generate revenue, you will be looking for ways to maximize that revenue.
Personally, I think that peace officers should not be in the ticket writing business period! What we need is a group who is fully self supported by the tickets that they write, and does not do anything else but write tickets.
That way, resources are not pulled away from police agencies. They can actually do the job they are supposed to be doing. Additionally, the double taxation of paying police salaries, and then being taxed again with tickets goes away.
Anyways, just a thought flame away.

Not sure I'd vote for that one
As it stands, cops at least tend to major in the major and minor in taking action on minor violating actions with revenue coming from a broad source. What you described, with ticket revenue being ONLY from traffic fines, expect the traffic laws enforced to the Nth degree. Speeding tickets would be issued for going even 1 mph over the limit. Further, take a look at the size of the DMV code book. I doubt you can drive around the block and not violate at least one section of that vehicle code book.
Also, no question that a cops job performance isn't measured JUST by writing tickets at an expected volume. But, at least for cops that are on traffic duty more often than not (ie Highway Patrol), it certainly is a major reference. Considering they are on the road relatively unsupervised, what better way to validate they're earning their salary. Those that can't seem to meet ticket expectations, among other things, I'm sure among other duty assignments get that wonderful graveyard duty of sitting in their patrol car enforcing freeway ramp closures for road construction.

The funny thing is that the FL DMV mailed it to me when it was done to my address in CA! No questions asked.
