I love my car too. I, also, love my dog, my cat, my son, my family, my work, etc. Nothing wrong about loving the people and things that you care about. I live in an area where it rains 95+% of the time. I drive 35 miles to work where it is sunny. I wash and wax my car at home and it is dirty when I get to work. I wash and wax my car at work and it is dirty when I get home. Sometimes you can't win from losing. Just enjoy your car, family and friends. There will always be another sunny day to show off your Rx-7.

My English teacher would have failed me for typing like that, and my Typing teacher would have done the same!

Seriously though, I go play in big, empty parking lots when it rains. I'm nowhere close to mastering the 180-degree ebrake spin, but I can make decent circles and figure-8's around stationary objects. It's the only thing that keeps me sane after spending so much extra time I've got to spend in freeway traffic...

isn't washing the car the same as rain? they both make the car wet... and if you've washed your car, and go into the rain, all you have to do is dry it up when you get it home..
