It's good to see more organized drift events coming online. Raziel, I do hope that you'll make it up to the event outside of Reno. From what I have heard so far the track is incredible! And I couldn't agree with you more that the only way to step up your game is to do it with practice on the track!! The streets are no place for drifting.

We are still waiting on the racetrack to give us a go/no go on the convert's with no roll bar. the insurance said it was ok if the track was ok with it.

Plus our business coach and active organizer just got all the parts to get his first gen spec 7 racer running and ready for the event!

I'm wondering if it would be cool for verts to run with their top up but targa top off. That way there IS some roll protection from the convertible top's built-in structural support. Just a thought. I'd love to learn drift moves in my 'vert (especially now that we have to scrap the FB project —long story).

Really looking forward to this.

Damn, sounds *really* good fun and everyone's got to appreciate the price and support for us learners.

I also have a vert without a roll bar. So, I'm interested in the ruleing in that one.

from our last experience at the track i get the feeling they'll leave the safety stuff up to us but i still have to check on anything not outlined specifically by our insurance provider. i'm pretty sure as long as your bar isn't specifically built for car shows then you'll have no problem from me.

tech inspections will be under myself and another qualified automotive technician's discretion. if we feel your car presents more of a specific risk than any others then we'll try to work with you and get that problem resolved. please bring road worthy cars, if your car isn't reliable and solid enough to lend to your own mother then please don't expect to use it at the track. wheels studs, fluid leaks/levels, brake system integrity, steering and suspension system, are all very important. any questions or concerns please email me gabe@tahoemotorsports.com

oh and try to bring at least another pair of tires mounted to extra wheels. i did and was damn glad i did it, my car wouldn't have made it onto the trailer to go home without them.

i'm sorry i couldn't get to the computer any faster cuz my powder eating muscles were still sore... it's freakin beautiful! but reno-fernley is in the "banana belt" and doesn't see one tenth of the storms that roll through here. they're lucky to get any rain.

It's cold as hell. even colder out in Fernley.
But, it always changes so it's hard to say what the weather will be like.

Is anyone planning on staying the night up here in Reno for this event?
The reason I ask is because I may be able to get a group discount for rooms at the
Atlantis Hotel and Casino if you are interested.
I just left a message to my contact there and should hear back from her shortly.

Here's a link to their regular rooms. http://www.atlantiscasino.com/reno/h...uxurytower.asp

Once I hear back from them I'll have more details and if this is even possible.

We'll be staying Friday and Saturday nights. If you can arrange a discount rate that would be so great! Will keep my eye on this thread. Thanks!

Yeah, if you can work out a discount rate it would be fun to stay up there and have a night of partying with all the rotorheads in town.

Rooms available!

Okay,

I was able to get a group discount for the NorCal people out there. Here are the details:

Nights available: Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th (Or both)

Theses rooms are available inside the Atrium Tower (Center Tower) of the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno. Rooms are $109 per night and your choice of 1 King size bed or 2 Queens.(She may be able to drop it down to $99, so be sure to ask!)
The Current/Regular rate for these rooms next week are $139.99

She informed me that she will be able to hold our rates however, the rooms are selling out as we move closer to the weekend.
If you want to book a room please PM me so I can give you the needed inforomation.

Dan

Hey guys, sorry to say the Reno Fernley Raceway(whom approached me to put on this event in the first place) just told us they were unable to allow us to use the skid pad after all. This has been devastating news to my team but we're still going to have a great day of driving elsewhere. Please keep checking this thread and our website to get the details of the FREE driving day on the 24. We're getting a route setup to include some incredible canyon roads. Again i'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We're all hoping to get a better explanation as to why RFR dropped our event considering thier request for such an event. I'll let everyone know what comes of that as well.

Gabe
