Question No pink slip in hand - Title & Ownership Q's

Sooo...

I'm looking at this particular car, but the owner says she does not have pink slip in hand but the car is registered under her name. I've gone through something similar like this within the past 4 months and I backed out due to security purposes on my behalf. But this time around if this situation is legit, I might purchase the car.

Here's the email she sent me:

"Yes, I had a buyer, but because we are in LA where people like to say one thing and do another, I didn't sell it cause he backed out after making me wait for more than a week. The main reason for him was, that I don't have a pink slip.
I actually never received it from the DMV.
So I called the DMV and they told me that there's a form to download which can be filled out by both parties and then it's as good as the pink slip. They can also verify my correct legal ownership. Buyer and Seller have to go to the DMV and do the transfer of title which is effective immediately.
So, if that's not a problem for you, let me know."

BS? or legit?

I'm somewhat clueless and wouldn't want to fall to an ownership full of hassles.

thanks in advance

what you want to do is take her down to the nearest DMV and have her fill out the transfer of ownership form and title application. this way a new title will be sent to you via mail. it takes awhile though to get it. if she cant find time to do it this way then dont trust her. have you talked to her in person? seen the actual car?

Yeah if you two go down to the DMV together you can get it sorted out. There's just a form you need to fill out.. no big deal. That way you can also find out if there are any back fees or anything.

phagggot. ask your dad to go to AAA. Thats part of AAA services. On th second hand, I dont blame your dad for not allowing you to drive anything faster-than-MTA.

AAA would be worth the $50 bucks just to do this one deal. Ten times better than the DMV
