A couple things.

first off, this is not a "law." It's a temporary executive order, and it will be overturned as soon as the State reaches a budget. If you haven't been watching the news, this is part of a widespread cost cutting measure that affects many employees of the state. Old timers have said they tried this junk in the 80's and it didn't last long, especially since nobody wanted their constituents economically raped for too long.

You can still get a "ref" ticket, you just have to go to a normal smog person to get it checked off.

this does not affect normal smog, for registration and title transfer etc. So don't get all excited and chuck your cat to the wind, you will still be checked.

 

I don't understand. My 85GSL just failed the "Test only" friday, so what do I do?

I surmise that the "REF" thing is if you're stopped by a cop. Is that the only thing affected?
