The new RX7 to be shown in Tokyo?

That site says a lot of things that don't happen. I'd find a 2nd source to confirm.
But on this one they can't really be spreading rumors, because this isn't even an actual car. It's a concept. Mazda's other concepts look just as crazy. OTOH this one looks like it is photoshopped with the rear of the Kabura and the front of another Mazda concept car. So maybe this is a photoshop, or maybe it's just a natural progression from earlier concept cars.

Looks more like a rotary-powered Lexus to me. I'm thinking since they're giving the RX-8 a "face lift" soon, they're probably experimenting with the new body. Doubt this will make it to production intact though. However I wouldn't be surprised with a 1.5 liter two rotor making it into the RX-8. I would love to see a stock turbo model as an option however, preferably with a 6 port, which would make future turbo kits easy to pull from junkyards, 15 years from now.
I'm anxious to see how much horsepower the new RX-8 will put out, since it is so often compared to the 350z, and the power rating on the current RX-8 is one of the major complaints from automotive magazines.

If the engine keeps the same power per displacement, it would put out 285HP. On one hand power per displacement tends to go down with larger engines, OTOH the direct injection would add power.
I just saw the Kabura in person and I like it a lot better than the pics. Putting the 16X in it would be a crazy dream. Good looks, 3 seats, 2500lbs., 285HP, low cost, good fuel economy, and an NA rotary. I'd jump on it in a heartbeat but I don't think it's gonna happen. More likely an engine based on the 16X would go in the next RX-8, while the car based on the Kabura would have the Miata's 4 banger in it. Both are slated for 2010, IIRC. Then again, I can't come up with a good reasons why they couldn't put the rotary in that car.
It says at the bottom: "[Source: Rotarynews.com]". Sorry, you fail.
