CA New to racing RX7s

In sept (Laborday weekend) I will be picking up a 1986 RX7 racecar. The guy that owns it now calls it a Pro7 Mazda. I have been around racing most of my life (I am 62) In another post I said 63 but I hit the wrong button. Anyway I will be looking to pick some Mazda racers brains for info on these cars so I can get up to speed on how these cars work and the things that should be done to them to make them a good race car. At my age I am looking to have fun and to go as fast as an old letch can go. So If you have any pointers that can help me so I can check the car out and make the changes (if any are needed) so that I can have some fun for the next few years. Who knows maybe I can win the old fogy class. The car is a non turbo and has been sitting for two years. It was built by someone that is a well knowen Mazda guy. I was told the name but I haven't been in roadracing since 1973 when I got into dirt racing and some Winston West in 80 and 81. So if you want to know sprinters I know them so this should be a lot of fun getting back to roadracing. I have been out of racing for the last 22 years and then I got the bug again.
