new owner :O

hey guys, i just got a 1989 RX-7 GTUs manual, and im not really familiar with the rotary engine. i was wondering what should i do to it first. it needs a little body work. ill post pics soon :O

If you just got it did you take it to a shop and or have a rotary person go with you to get it? Have someone give it a good once over so that you find any potential problems. Get them squared away then worry about what you want to do to the car. Good luck!

i already took it to a mechanic and stuff, everything checked out, it runs good other than it having the air coolant light come on and just beep at me (that might be a normal problem or something) but it drives great just the body needs some work. as far as making it go faster what should i put in first etc. can i turbo my car? if so what kind should i get cause i dont know jack **** about rotary engines lol. :O

yea its that car LOL, i saw it in the newspaper and i just bought it, she gave it to me for 1800, the mirror is glued on and **** which is fixable, everything else is really nice. i gotta go get a sound system in it cause the radio doesnt work, neither does the horn but its chill, for 100,000 miles it was a damn good deal :O

Yeah, I'd make sure that it's running 100% right prior to spending money on a radio. Hell, my FC runs great and I still don't have a radio in it.

Me too, with my setup I would need a 1000 watts to hear anything.

well ofcourse i want my car running 100% right, i just got my oil changed and all that other ****. i noticed that my car smokes sometimes when im driving but rarely. and i have to give it gas almost 60% of the time when i start it up.

That could be your injectors that starting problem. If you want to turbo your car you need to do the turbo engine swap when you do that it includes engine, trans, driveshaft, rear diff, ECU, and engine harness. I have heard that you can put a turbo on a n/a engine but it wont last. As for your first modifcation i would recommend suspension, next rims and tires. You shouldn't go to large with the rims 17 being the largest ( 18" rims are a little much for the n/a)

how much does the turbo engine swap cost, i need to start saving hahaha :P if this is another problem, when that air coolant light comes on my rpms go to like 3500, and then when i press the gas it doesnt do it anymore.

To understand the rotary better, check out www.rotaryengineillustrated.com They have some great animations that will explain how everything inside the engine works.

smoking? buy Hyper Lube's smoke fix. comes in a white bottle with red lettering. u should be able to find it at kragens or sum ****. it completely eliminates smoke... hense the name... ok i'll stop now.

dude it really works! recommended by Jeff at Rotary Power. He says hes been using it in his REPU for 3 years. I used to use it... The ***** really thick so i guess thats how it doesnt slip past bad oil control rings, so much, so no smoke. My car will be sold as soon as i fix teh size 15 boot dent in the back. Wanna trade? ....please

its because you need to add more coolant

no seriously though, u need more coolant. turn the car on, pull the throttle a little bit to get it flowing (u'll need help) and top it off. either that or youre losing coolant somewhere, or try cleaning the little sensor part off, just dont tear off the wire or else that annoying buzzer will never go off. im not exactly sure how it works, but try cleanin it cause you never know... have you overheated yet?

The turbo swap will probably run you around $2500 for the engine and trans (minus labor) $800-1000 for the engine haarness (i think?) Uuummm i think the ecu will come with a front clip if you have to buy it seperate then maybe $40-100 (don't quote me on the price. I dont know about the driveshaft and rear diff. Hey dont let these guys get you down they just like ******* around no harm meant.
