Need a tech in my area that knows FD's

Eureka Ca 95501/Nor cal

I currently have an FD on my car lot. Car is very clean but something is wrong with the turbos kicking in correctly. Our tech has gone through the car but with his 25 years exp he's still scratching his head. The local Mazda dealer just doesn't know these vehicles and would pref not to work on it.

I am located in Eureka Ca (95501) and am willing to travel to a shop that knows the FD's.

93 manual with 86000 miles

I just called a bay area shop and they are busy for 3 months. Would like to get this car fixed soon. Any suggestion guys? Thanks

have you checked your turbo control solenoids? Those are known to be bad and causing hesitation for the turbos kicking in etc.

Solenoids are funtioning properly.

The 7 at first would boost great on the lower end then would stumble when the 2nd turbo would engage. The tech then took the turbo back off used all new gaskets and after being put back together it seems like it's stumbling on both turbos now.

I know these are not easy cars to work on but your advice will be passed on to our only tech until we can take it to a reputable place. Again Thanks

Im from Eureka and will be there for the holidays in a few weeks. Is it just not making a proper 10-8-10 pattern? What car lot is it at?

Looks like we posted at the same time...If your tech has verified that all solenoids are working properly I would have him double check all the vac lines. Especially if it got worse when he removed and replaced the turbos, its probably an issue with one of the vac lines, solenoids or wiring in that rats nest mess. How is the wiring harness in that area? Cooked brittle wiring harness and broken nipples on the solenoids, broken check valves, cracked hoses, ect in that area are pretty common from too much heat.

has he verified everything with this diagram:

I'm an FC guy so the 10-8-10 pattern I will mention to our tech Mark. The car lot I work at is sweetheartmotors. We have 2 locations. One is in front of the broadway cinema and the other is across the street from the old greyhound bus station/Big louies pizza.

Should we use new turbo gaskets everytime the turbo is taken off?

That would be great if you would stop buy and say hi and help. I'm sure we could compensate you for your time somehow!

Thanks for your input!

Driftdreams is right. My old FD had the same issue. I took it to the dealership, big mistake btw, and they had no clue at all. I found a rotary expert who suggested changing all of the vacuum hoses to silcone hose and replaced check valves. After that was done, my turbos functioned like it was supposed to.

Please be advise that a hose job isn't a simple task. There's a reason why they call it the 'rat's nest'.
