Need help in Nor Cal

Guys. I've been putting off having the RX worked on due to financial issues. Pretty much this year has been nothing but a disaster. I lost my job after ten years of service, My GF of 14 years decides to get another man and leaves me with the house payment etc. My Brother gets sick, My Father passes away, and I'm going to lose the house because I can't pay for it. Somethimes if feel like just saying
Anyhow, so I'm going to work Last thursday and I get hit by a guy running a stop sign! I was in my 4Runner and it's pretty bad. Just what I neede while trying to save for a house. So the truck will be down for at least a month IF they decide to fix it.
I need help getting my RX running safely so I have a car to drive around. It smells like gas and runs terrible. I'm not sure what the fuel smell is but I do have a FPD and the recall kit to install. The motor is blown I think but I can't fix it right now.
Can anyone help me install this stuff? I will be willing to pay, but I need to do it as soon as possible. I don't have anything to drive right now and I have to drive 40 miles to work.
Thanks guys

sorry to hear all this. Most the damage looks to be cosmetic, does the door open and close? What insurance do you have? if at all possible try to just ask for a check. Then you could use that to help with your current situation and just fix it later.

That or tell the insurance that this is your only car and you drive 40 miles to work everyday and they better provide a rental vehicle.

The damage is actually worse then what it looks like in the pic. The doors do not open and there is a lot of damage inside and to the front fender. The truck actually went up on two wheels for a second. THe crapy pictures just make it look a lot better.

I don't know about helping you with the cars but I can tell you that giving up isn't worth it. How will you persevere and KNOW what BETTER times are if you give up early???? Keep on battling, take everything that is thrown at you and fight it out man!

So your going to drive the 7 40 miles to work with a blown motor? Sounds to me your asking to get stranded, public transportation or a rental car would be the best advice I could give you. Whats a cheaper route in the future a cheap rental car? Like $350 a week pluss gas. Then drive your already blown but dont know how bad FD. Right now it could just be a rebiuld kit which is like $1000, make it worse and you might have to replace everything which could turn out to be like $3000. Like i said just get a rental car if you have insurance they might help with it.

I'm not sure whats wrong with the 7 Could just be a simple fix or bad injectors, or cracked turbo housing or blown motor etc. etc. I haven't even looked at it. The motor in there now is a rebuild from Rick in Pleasanton with 3mm apex seals and I don't beat on the motor. I drove the original motor around for 6 months before I had the rebuild done. If it's a cracked apex seal there's nothing you car really do to make it worse.

Oh right ok got it.
I've been around here for years including the first two hacks so original join date should be in the late '90s!!!! I've had this car since '97 and it's been such a love/hate thing. I've always and done everything rght. Normaly Rick's Rotary would do the work, but due to recent financial limitations I just need to get it up and running. All I can really afford to do right now is the FPD and fuel recall kit as I already have it sitting around.
I don't know who the FD guys are anymore and a lot of them have moved on to other things. I know the Karrak is a good guy but he's so busy and I can't expect him to just fit me in.
If you really want to drive up to Merced, we can work something out.

It's the Fuel Pulsation Damper, and the '93s had a recall on their fuel lines due to them cracking, leaking and, well burning the car to the ground.
I bought the FPD and the total fuel line replacement kit (recall kit) from Ray Crowe last year and just havn't put in on yet.
