Exclamation Need Exhaust Help Fellas

Alright Westcoast-ers! Tried this in the Performance section with no results. Since most of the old-schoolers are over here anyway, I thought I give it a try where I seem to get the best advice anyway...

Some of you may have seen my blue Rx2 at the Ricky/Ronnies meet. If you heard it run, it wasn't really that loud. My original exhaust consisted of RB Road/Race, dual 2.25 pipe, 2 4-year-old (blown out) glasspacks, merged 2.5 and a 2.5 Thermal 16" long muffler at the rear. Now get this...today I replaced the blown glasspacks with 2 4-inch round 20" long magnaflow mufflers...AND THE EXHAUST NOTE GOT LOUDER....maybe not louder out the back, but now it is so deep and resonant that it sorta drones and bugs. I'm thinking my 2 year old rear muffler may also be blown...but damn, you'd think it would have gotten a lot quieter. Right around 2100 rpm and 4100 rpm it gets way loud....it does sound like my n/a second gen with a borla cat back though...wierd.

Any suggestions on rear mufflers? No RB suggestions please...it would be way too small for this application. How quiet are the large magnaflow mufflers? Will a new rear tame the drone? Rotoflo are too far and too expensive, a big *** HKS muffler from another application customed up to fit? I'm looking for something oval...unless round versions have more packing (?)

Anyone have similar problems? If you're in or around L.A. I'd like to hear your setups...hopefully ASAP!!!

My RX-3 has a Sidepex 13-B streetport with no exhaust sleeves. Old Rotary Engineering headers to dual 2.25 and oval magnaflow, and 4 year old blow glasspacks. for me, its not too loud......

What did you say? I didnt hear you the 3rd time

My bro's RX-2 with another Sidepex TII streetport has a full RB streetport exhaust. Its quiet coz the pipes are only 2" in diameter plus a presilencer with ID of 2" and primaflow. Very restricted that the motor cant reach its full potential.

The bottom line is that there is no other way...its either quiet & slow OR loud & fast.
