the '85 with SP and full RB exhaust has never turned a head. If you really need to....fab the stock reactor heat shield over the header. These days, most old 7's have blown rear mufflers anyway and are a bit noisy, and stock. Just motor reasonalby and you'll have no probs.
its written in a way that it can be argued any way to be honest.

section a states
"No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle...."

but in section b it contradicts itself and says under a gross vehicle weight you have 95dB.

last time i spoke to a judge based out of the vista courthouse about it he informed me that this apply section a. if you argue it and bring up section b you have a chance of getting out of it.....but......law states no louder than stock

just so you know i worked at a smog shop for like 4 years plus i know a guy that does test only too. oh. and i used to build custom exhausts for a shop in SD and i'm pretty sure i know whats legal and not. also i got my ticket for "too loud of exhaust" and thats exactly how i beat it in court with a decibel meter test at a local police station. but that was when the car was mostly stock. i could have never passed the same test with what i have now.

you, yourself said that it could be argued either way. and if he is under the gross vehicle weight specified, which i was in an s4gxl, then he could probably get out of it if his car was under 95db.

I'm just putting forth the fact that i'm a credible source. I'm not some guy that sits at a desk. I actually work in the industry and I happen to be pretty familiar with the emissions laws. If you're gunna call me flat out wrong don't say that the law changed and then go back on it and say it can be argued both ways.

Hopefully since our cars our at least 20 years old, we can also claim the "the old one rusted off and the dealer recommended this system" type of dealeo.

But in all seriousness, with a large streetport 12a modded nikki and full RB sp, I am no where near 95db when driving like a regular person. If I hold it at 3000rpm when they do their bullshit test, I'm still under the limit.....the damn stock fan is louder than the muffler!
