Take it easy....I think he already consented to the fact that his springs are Ebay's and therefore are not of super duper awesomeo quality. Don't beat yourself up when you already won.

Meh, I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I had planned to upgrade my suspension entirely. Coils, sways, everything... but now that I might have to be putting money away for the move, a new place, furniture, and mebbe even get ready for the girl to move in... I might just go with some cheap *** ebay springs to get a lower look on the TII. I can't stand it being so high...

thats just so retarded to me. either do it right or dont do it at all. springs/suspension components that are that poor of a quality are likely to make the car handle worse.....

This is true... but what about just getting a used set of decent springs off ebay? Some eibachs or something? That's what I'm planning on doing... I mean, I'm not going to turn it into my track car til after I get a little more stable... but I don't want it sitting so high, cuz it just looks horrible... It'll still handle good, but not as good as the coils. Spend $100 now, then blow the $1k+ a few months later.

Not necessarily worse... but not top of the line. Here's how I see it.

1- Stock handling (decent. I mean, c'mon it's an Rx7, it's gonna be good)
2-
3- Ebay Springs (used set of springs. Little bit better...)
4-
5-
6- New shocks, struts, spings (Good performance, decent price, but still a little expensive)
7-
8- Coils, sways, struts (Great performance)
9-
10- Top of the line coils, bushings, etc... (Excellent ****)

yeah but you have to look at it this way....

for example my rx7 is almost 26 years old. it still has mostly stock suspension it handles like a dream. if i took as put some shitty fleabay springs on it im certain it would handle worse and be super sloppy.

putting something like some RB springs on would help it but.....not as much as if i replaced the burnt out dampers as well.

that particular car the best available (short of having custom made coilovers which i plan to do hopefully in the near future but who knows) are the koni "special d" dampers. now as for springs progress makes some rb makes some eibach makes some....at that point it is a matter of preference. im getting RB

now doing that is great but i know every bushing in that car is rotted to **** so assuming i replace springs and dampers and no bushings it will handle better yes but.....not as well as it can. so im replacing all of that too......now all of that is nice and good but if i dont do an alignment its all for not..

my point is this if you can afford to spend 255 on some springs then you shouldnt be modifying your car. you should wait till you can do it right

Well, I can't argue with that. Valid point indeed. Though, his car is a lot newer then ours. 15 years is still old, but not as old as 25 years

I'm not going to be pushing the car at all in terms of suspension until I am able to do it right. But, I just want the look at the moment, because seriously... I can fit a body between the rear tire and wheel well. It's ridiculous. If he's going for the look, then meh, whatev... but you have to be able to accept the fact that it is JUST a look, and not meant to outhandle a proper suspension setup.

What kind of spring rates are you looking at with those RB springs?

i understand that and that just adds to my point. the 15 years old OE springs are in better shape than mine and mine are still great.

the OE springs were designed for THAT car. unlike most aftermarket there was r&d put into them. not just like oh well we have this sitting on the shelf so lets use this spring rate and .....we have this sitting here so lets use that or this....

... True

Well, point of the matter, at this point, I'm just going for the look since I'm sick of the car being 2 feet of the ground.

well to each their own

personally i dont want either of my cars any lwer than they are now. but the 7 i dont really have a choice.

the 7 will be 20% stiffer spring rate over stock and an inch lower than stock. which ******* sucks cuz that car already scrapes going in an out of certain driveways.......

she right mikey springs have a spring rate already enforced on them...when he/she lower the car, and then car is in motion will lower on because of the friction between the floor and the tire...nothing more...

Yeah Mikey...don't you know anything? Geez man! You're such a tool Mikey.

I thought we covered this scenario at our talk at Stone Pale Ale brewery with Teddy Bear, Piston run-off-the-road Killa Princess, and Archeis8.

ah didn't see this edit here.

Yeah, the kit you have makes the car look extrememly low as it is. However, even though you're going to have to watch out for certain driveways and such, I think it's going to look badass. I love slammed 7's.

My wife will get a new SUV, along with me getting a new car. Dual income is fun like that Mikey!

...as I told Mikey, I rocked the Focus for 3 years while she was in Italy. I want NOTHING to do with that car. It may sound uppity or vain; because it is. I don't care.

i have no interest in lowering a car for any reason other than function.

i honestly dont think the 7 really needs to be lowered but we will see what kinda difference an inch makes on handling on that car.

in a perfect world control arms are parallel with the ground......

realistically that was has wide tires on the back. they arent tiny by any far stratch on the front either.....with koni special d dampers rb springs all the sway and strut bars available and all new poly bushings i think the car will be hell of a lot more fun to drive that it is now. and honestly she is perfect now. you can get her *** to walk out if you want and its so fluid compared to most cars that are super abrupt and jerky. its super controlled its fun. but she stays planted so well its almost scary at time...

Performance is always the first reason to get anything... however, a 7 that's low to the ground = one ******* hawt 7.
I'm gonna havta compare your car to mine after we get our suspension work done. It's extra exciting to think about the kinda G's I'll be pushing on those mountain passes

LOL, Mike going with cheap springs?! He just tried to steer me away from RS*R and send me towards Tein... because he didn't want me overpaying/performance wise. I'll kill 'em!

Exactly. I always tell the ******** who get the lift kits for their trucks that it's just completely unnecessary and dangerous. In my N/A, I've almost been run over twice by lifted fords. ******* rednecks
