Moved from FL for school only, can I keep the plates/registration?
So most of you probably saw my other thread, I just moved here from FL for school and I will be here for two years. My FD is registered and insured in Florida and I am wondering if I have to get a cali drivers license, registration etc. I have tried looking for this answer online but everyone has crappy iffy answers. I just want something straight forward so I will give straight forward facts.
I am a student at PLNU, I won't have a job, and I will not be a resident in the state. Do I need to get a cali license, and if I bring my FD here will I have to register it or insure it here...
Any answers would be great! I am hoping to get the hunk of junk up here before seven stock
Oh and BTW the car is registered still under parents name w/ FL address, and my permanent address is FL

Correct. Though, it does not mean that your local PD won't hassle you. If your car has no cats, i'm guessing it is louder than hell which makes you a target of getting pulled over.
Have any pics of your car? My car was super quiet under normal driving conditions, but loud under WOT as well. I say just keep it cool driving and you should have no problems.

Well simple, u should consider urself lucky to have the vehicle register in Florida. No smogging and etc. U don't need to register it in Cali. U don't need to insured it in Cali, since u don't own the car. But u should at least still have insurance on it. Technically u have to tell insurance that the car will be garaged in Cali, because different location can result a higher premium, and insurance will give u crap if u ever get into an accident. But there's always ways around it.
You technically should but most agencies won't investigate it. It is a good reason to pull you over though and look for other things(DUI's, Warrants, Vehicle Code Violations). That's what I would do.
what sizes do they come in and what do they cost? I have been looking for that style of wheel for a long time, I want them really bad and I have the money but I just don't have any income so there would be no replenishing the bank account after I bought a set
and that's not a good thing hopefully I can find some way to make money while in school..
Im in this same boat i got a washington state car and moved down here a week ago for school . EXCEPT that i want in state residency to get in state tuition. can i too keep my wa state plates and registration? My county also did not have emissions.
Since you are getting in state residency you have to get a Cali driver's license, registration, insurance and etc since you will be a legal resident of Cali. I don't because I am not becoming a resident, lucky for me though my school costs the same for in state and out-of-state students. What school are you going to?
btw here is a picture of my car for some reason image shack won't post them at this time
but I should be shipping her up soon so I can take it to SS because I have always wanted to go to that.
I am going to Point Loma Nazarene University, it's got a great campus the whole thing is on the cliffs of SD but the tuition there is the same for in and out of state students
