Well that is why I asked FIRST to see if the schedule was longer or they just cut each group down! Looking foward to being there, but my car still needs some work. Funny I have done about 10 plus open track days without any issues and at my last one, BAM, need a bunch of stuff. Tires, shock, fix a tranny leak, and then an alignment. Hope I get everything done in time. Plus I'll probably be starting a new job too!

Anyone can just show up and spectate. There is no limit. Just go the track. They may charge you a $10.00 gate fee.

Well, guys, I'm going to have to cancel. That will open a spot in the Intermediate class. My engine is not going to be rebuilt in time.

I hope everyone has fun and enjoys the day WITH NO ACCIDENTS!

Thanks for setting the event up Bern, and I hope I can make the next one.

My comments were to let everyone know that we had potentially opened a "second" BEGINNER group, due to demand. I never told anyone what group they were in DUE to registration date. You will be in the group that "you" signed up for, when you sent in your registration to REDLINE.

To all, the abiove is the email I recieved(it begins with mey apology to Berny), seems I stirred up a hornets nest, My apologies to all. If you read the whole thread, the track time is essentially the same. It will be a great time, if you are not sure, price out the Speed ventures event the day before. Once again, Bern puts together a class act, and this time I really blew it, sorry to all. Sincerely, Carl Byck
Carl, this is why the internet sucks as a communication vehicle sometimes! No real need for apologies, but thank you. My apologies also for not communicating succinct and clear on my previous forum post that led to the confusion. I think we are all on the same page now, and clear as to the group issue. But, if anyone still has questions, please feel free to contact me ASAP, and I’ll try and clear them up.

Thank you all for your patience with us, and we are hoping to have a great event!

I'm sorry to hear that! Go yell at your engine rebuilder!

I'll do my best to pick up a few dents for you. You can drive that little red Miata of mine of you want... let me know. You'd have to come down to SD to get it though.

Unfortunately, I decided (or the car decided) that I needed a rebuild at the same time as several other people = long wait time.

No dents, man, I think you got enough last time to last a while... BTW, which turn/direction did you lose it on? I'm trying to figure where you went off to hit the left side of the car on something.

Thanks for the offer on the Miata but SD is a bit too far for me. Have fun out there!

I had to be really creative to put some dents on the left side. We were running the track counterclockwise. I lost it on the "offramp" (the really tight over 180 turn before the last turn onto the main straight) of all places. Went in way to hot (cause I was an idiot) and decided I'd try to make the turn anyway. I started to oversteer badly and when it became apparent that there was no way I was going to make it I hit the brakes hoping I could stop before I went off track since the track is really wide there. Unforunately I slid off the track at about 10-15mph and because of the rains the ground was slick as snot and I slid sideways about 20 yards into a tire lined embankment by the cart track. I had turned a full 180 degrees by then. I probably hit at under 10mph but it was still good for a couple minor dents... looks like somebody punched the car. I was able to pop the one in the front out by hand but the rear one will need a body shop.

The funny thing is that about 2 hours earlier a guy in a brand new convertible 350Z went off and hit in the EXACT same spot at a MUCH higher speed (some of the tire stacks flew 20 feet after he hit them) and REALLY messed up his car. As I drove by the scene I thought "What the hell did he do wrong to end up crashing way over there?". Guess I was about to find out.

Sorry you won't be able to make it... catch you at the next one I hope!

Well the event is full, so I signed with Speedventures on Fri.... (I'll get my road race fix, yet !)

I wanted to sign up early, but with my single beeing in limbo, I didn't want to go with a sketchy fuel map, or other problems....

Dunno, depends on how well financially I'm off, I've been freelancing for a while now, and for the last month I've had maybe 4-6 solid days of work, if this continues, I'll be glad if I can afford Gas to Buttenwillow & Back

Do I have to Enter it in advance !?

Yes true... BW is in the middle of nowhere, but some events are doing a 103db limit... I'm not sure REDLINE does this or not.

I have participated with Redline before. It was a great event.
There are no sound limits when I did their event. I doubt they will have it now.

The drivers are very fast and professional and the event was well put together. I wish there was less car on the track tho...

We will not be enforcing any kind of sound limit at this event.
No db restrictions at all.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Tentative Track Schedule

Guys,
Here is a tentative schedule on how REDLINE will run the track portion of the day. Keep in mind that this schedule is subject to change due to conditions of the day. REDLINE usually keeps to the schedule, but lots of things can throw it off.

They'll be using the PA system to announce the different run groups, so people will know when the run session is starting.

>7.00 - 8.00 Registration
>8.00 - 8.30 Drivers/Safty Meeting and general instruction
>8.45 - 9.10 Red (advance) on track
>9.10 - 9.35 Green (fast intermediate) on track
>9.35 - 10.00 White (fast beginner/slow intermediate) on track
>10.00 - 10.25 Blue (beginner) on track
>10.25 - 10.50 Red on track
>10.50 - 11.15 Green on track
>11.15 - 11.40 White on track
>11.40 - 12.05 Blue on track
>12.05 - 1.00 Lunch exhibition
>1.00 - 1.25 Red on track
>1.25 - 1.50 Green on track
>1.50 - 2.15 White on track
>2.15 - 2.40 Blue on track
>2.40 - 3.05 Red on track
>3.05 - 3.30 Green on track
>3.30 - 3.55 White on track
>3.55 - 4.20 Blue on track
>4.20 - 4.40 Red & Green on track
>4.40 - 5.00 White & Blue on track.

If the drivers thin out by the end of the day, REDLINE will have an open track for the last hour instead of going by the schedule. All drivers should get a least 2 hours of track time, if they run all their sessions, and nothing goes wrong on track

Cheers,

-Bern
