what kind of exhaust are you using? also, try using a resinated midpipe or a HF cat instead of just a midpipe.

RB dual will quiet it down, if you want it to be even more quieter slap a borla xr1 on the midpipe...

Apexi Active Tail Silencer works well also, won't rob your power,

look at the new Apexi PS revolution exhaust system, its based on the same design

the ATS worked for me (with a Turbo N1 single)

I dunno, I've got a 3" straight-through exhaust with a T66 and the RB Duals, and its still loud as hell. It would probably sound great with the Borla too, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I had a HF cat w/ RB Duals w/ my single T78 back then and it wasnt that bad, it was only loud at WOT.

I've been told my exhaust is really quiet for what it is, its a single t04e, downpipe is wrapped and the wastegate is plumbed in (also wrapped), resonated midpipe from the rx7store.net, with an HKS Carbon Fiber Ti. I think its loud but then I hear some without the resonated midpipe and its totally different. The resonated pipe was definitly worth getting.

All the quiet exhaust in the world isn't going to help you if your wastegate is dumping to atmosphere....

well i dont mind the loud dumping at WOT but im talking about for normal driving.

Hmm...im definately going to heat wrap my dp tho.

What is the cheapeast alternative to quieting down this car at normal driving? I was looking for something like a silencer so i could take it off when i wanted to. Is the Active tail silencer quiet? where could i purchase this thing. I have a Trust N1 catback but its either 4 or 4.5" big. Im not sure which exactly but im sure some silencer would fit. Can someone link me please? Thanks guys!

Here is what I did. I ran into this same situation with my single about 2 or 3 years ago.

I ceramic coated (you can Jet coat too) the exhaust manifold, turbo (hot side) housing, and dp. This will keep the heat in and make a little more power. The waste-gate is also plumbed into the down-pipe. Then I ran a Greddy SP exhaust (this is what I had before the single). After running this setup, I think my ears would almost bleed driving it around. My wife said flatly the car was too loud to be driven around town or on the highway as she was unable to talk to the other person in the car.

We were running a Random Technologies high-flow cat and was extremely loud! Spoke to XS-Engineering who hooked us up with a Dynomax muffler to replace our cat/mid-pipe. This made a huge difference in sound volume (no decrease in rwhp either). Instead of screaming in the car to talk to the other passenger, all you had to do is talk loud. It was actually quiet enough to use a cellphone also.

It is basically this...
The more radical your porting is, the more sound volume you will get. Using the two mufflers will help dramatically. I cannot see how you can keep the sound volume down using only one muffler. This will keep the police away also and not an excuse to pull you over.

I hope this helps!
