Looking for the right track for me

Hello all!

I've been getting more and more serious about driving in the last couple of years, to the point where i'm realizing how limited my own experience is. I want to learn to REALLY drive. I think the best way to do that is to get maximum time at a track, with some combination of instruction as well.

Do you guys have any suggestions for where I should be going? Understand that I'm on a pretty tight budget, I want to go someplace where I'll be able to afford track time. I currently live in Alaska, I'm looking for someplace Washington/Oregon/California.

For me, the best bang for the buck learning and experience was through local SCCA Autocross events. A full practice day runs about 60 bucks, and EVERYONE there loves driving, talking about driving, and teaching people how to improve on their times (driving your car, or riding along).

AutoX was pretty much all I could afford most of the time through college (student discounts!), so it was a great experience for me, plus the skills are applicable to big tracks too!

That's definitely the kind of thing I had in mind, I guess I just need to figure out what kind of events will be near where I'll be going to school (still up in the air at the moment)
