looking for info on plate frames from Santa Monica Mazda
Anybody know about a Santa Monica Mazda Dealer.
These plate frames were on my RX3 when I got it. The Car was reported to be a California car!
Anybody ever seen these frames before?

well I'don't disagree with wacky. Even if the plate frame is from California doesn't mean the car is. Thats another point.
I could not fnd any info on a Santa Monaca Mazda Dealer and was hoping a local could help.
The "Mazda" M on plate frame is the old style that I believe pre-dates 1975. They were mounted on my RX3 when I bought it in 1981 and I always assumed they came with the car from the dealer. I was thinking of investing in restoring the frames when I finish the build on the RX3 if I could determine it came with the car from the dealer.
As far as if the car is from california, I haven't figured out how to confirm that yet, but I believed the guy I bought the car from due to its condition. Even at that young age(back in 81) the car was notably in better condition from either of my other RX3's. I had a RX3 I bough in Alberta in 78 and it was a rust bucket in only5 years. the RX3 wagon I got from Victoria BC in 81 was rust free. Both the other RX3's had a cold start assist that I think was installed on "cold climate" cars. The "california car' had air conditioning the owner said was a dealer installed option.
Really not that important to me if it was actually a california car, its the condition of the body thats important. I had a paint shop giving me an estimate recently, he was suprised to see an all steel body with original paint almost 40 years old. Said its a great base for nice paint job!
