long beach neighborhoods
I am relocated with my wife and a friend in a month and it seems that we will end up in long beach... at least for a while. I have heard to stay away from everything north of 3rd street in downtown then north of 4th up to redonda. But mostly try to stay as east as possible. Is this pretty accurate?
Here is the address we are looking at 1613 Ximeno Avenue Long Beach, CA 90804. Is this east enough to be in the good neighborhoods or is it bad because it is further north? Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean any area can be a bad area? I know every city has its bad areas but I am looking to find out the specific streets/sections that are good or bad. We are looking at apartments/condos. This one is a 2bd/2ba for $2k. We are looking in the 1500–2k range which wouldn't be so hard to find but we want a washer/dryer and will have a dog so it really narrows things down.

I couldn't find anything for us in seal beach. We might just get this 404 Pine one. Its with archstone and they have this deal where you can transfer to any other archstone within your lease and they will transfer your deposit. So if we don't like it there we can just move. I'm gonna have my brother look at it today while hes in long beach.
PS: I hate apartment hunting :/

Thanks for the suggestions guys. My bro just looked at the long beach place and said it was really nice so we are just going to go ahead with that. I will be officially part of the west coast 7 forum soon! — but then i wont have a 7 anymore :/

LOL, i live in LB for my whole life already. And i can tell u that theres ALOT of bad areas, depending on who you are (race, ethnicity), and where u live. Don't worry about gangs though, majority of them are scared to do anything. Again, it all comes down to who u are. If u have any questions PM me or sumthing.
Peace...

Yea Im sure we will like it. I just put our lease application in yesterday so I think it takes 3 days to go through. After I get the apartment my wife and I will have to start job hunting. We are graphic designers... anyone have connections with burton, quicksilver, pac sun, oneill mazda, car and driver, road and track, motortrend or other publications? Im pretty sure I will have connections for design firms but want to explore the other avenues first.

The huntington beach area is where we wanted to live but are moving with a friend and compromised with him to be more LA accessible. Hopefully in about a year we will end up a little further south.

I am less than 1 mile from Mazdatrix. I have been in Long Beach for 12 years now. 9 of those years in Signal Hill which is nice and kind of pricey. Long Beach is big and there are lots of things to do here, my suggestion would be just move close to the beach, rent should be about the same. Good Luck with your stay.
P.S
When are all the LB rotaries meeting up?????????????
Somebody set it up

well from what I know there are no LB rotary meets. We should start one though. I know 3 guys with FD's besides mine in Long Beach alone that are not on this forum. I know there are plenty more. Maybe we can meet up where the EVO's meet up at the PetsMart in Signal Hill.
