It could be worst, we have great jobs if your skilled, and everything you could think of is close enough to drive too, (REDWOODS,SD,SF,VEGAS,BAJA TO NAME A FEW). The pay offsets the rent/gas too. wE HAVE A SUPER COOL ROTARY COMMUNITY( As long as you stay out of the damn Santa Clamitia). I have a 1 bedroom in Gardena with my chick, not that great(under 6 bills with gas paid for heat and the stove), but I dont want to spend all my cash on rent. The closer you get to the ocean the more you pay. LAX is next to Inglewood and Hawthorne with lots of APT's with resonable rents. HATERS ARE THE GUYS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE. Dont be hating because you get more good 7 parts out of CA that any other state BY FAR!

I've lived all over the country and the entire nation has pretty much the same view of Texass. And dude, you're from Austin....that city would fit RIGHT in in Cali, bunch of texas liberal hippies. You live in the one city where the rest of the state would like to disown.

The snobbery of Dallas is on par with most of coastal Cali (except the uppity parts of LA) and Houston matches LA in terms of size, pollution and all around crappiness.

4 1/2 years in Texas, running up to 7 years in San Diego...and I'm ready now to leave here too.

I can't get into Nascar because it's too much like watching someone ELSE play Super Sprint on the Nintendo for 3 hours. The cars are all the same, and I can't make myself care about the drivers.

"The guy we want to win is the one in the blue car. Whoa, did you see how close to the wall he got? He'd better turn left a LITTLE MORE next time! Wow, did you see that red car? He's really out to get that yellow car! If we're lucky, maybe he'll hit that oil slick, spin into the wall and explode!"

Yeah, but once the helicopter brings in a new yellow car, that red car better watch out!

If you "live an hour away" how can it take "way longer" to get to work?

That's like saying I live 20 minutes from school but it takes 40 minutes to get there.

So bad that it defies the laws of space and time!

Actually, I think he's technically saying "I live an hour away from Los Angeles, but at rush hour it can take way longer"

I like it out here in California. Yeah houses and gas are expensive, but that's just all part of the cost of living. When I was in the military I used to hear it from everyone about how much california sucks and how the state that they came from was better. I didn't care either way. I grew up here, lived in other places and I've got to say, I like it here.

I've got a few friends that live near LAX. One friend works for Customs out in LAX and she lives in Torrance, I don't know how much she's paying for rent, but her apartment is pretty decent.

There are a few stuck up people out here, but not as many as you'd think. Most of the stuck ups are the uber rich people. Girls are approachable as long as you're not self consious and aren't afraid to talk to them. You could usually tell if a girl is going to be a bitch or not by the way she looks and/or acts.

Sometimes cops can be ********, but if you're polite, they'll be nice. They only really pull you over if you're doing something really stupid or your car sounds like an old civic.

Rush hour traffic sucks, I mean, it really really sucks! If you time things right, you won't have a problem with it, but it isn't entirely avoidable. The intesity of traffic really depends on where you are, where you are going, which freeways you are taking, and at what times.

The good thing is that everything is only a drive away. You've got mountains, snow, beach, forrest, desert, farmland, wine country, Mexico, lakes, etc. etc.

All and all, California isn't a bad place to live.

Oh, but if you plan on moving to California, Siros, I'll watch your RX7 for you. If you can't pass emissions in Dallas, you're not going to have a chance in California.

Because it is true, time and space cease to exist for the mindless hordes that filter out of work in the afternoon. Depending on traffic one could go from most of orange county to LA in an hour. Would you want to commute? Hell no! I spent on average 2.5-3 hours each way in traffic for 3 months on rotation commuting from Tustin to santa Monica (just north of LAX). Sometimes it took 40 minutes or longer to get from work to the freeway that was ~1 mile away. I can;t believe there are not mre instances of road rage, or people just leaving their cars and walking. It would often be faster.

its a matter of depending on cars nowadays and no matter what people ar still going to be driving...but there's always alternative roads one can take if you know which one's are they....and for road rage i guess its L.A and people cope with it more now....what can you do if a mini truck flipped over and took all the lanes except the car pool??

Yeah, those damn rubbernecks! If people would just keep their eyes on the road instead of looking at an accident, we would cruise by a whole lot smoother.

lol..yeah but that actually did happen to on the way to work....lol....but thats true people just stop for like 5 mins and stare at the accident which is just completly a waste and on top of it some drivers dont even like to even let others squeeze through their lane..
