Gonna be repainting the FC soon and I need a recommendation on a good place to get it done. i dont want one day paint, I dont want a backyard special, I wanna pay for a job well done and of course I want it done by Seven Stock...
NOTE: I want to have the body kit fitted, small dents removed and painted separately. Not everyone can do this.
PS: I'm located in N. Hollywood so a close location is preferred.
PPS: Shop has to be able to work with FRP hi-flex stuff. Not anyone can paint this stuff correctly.

If you have 6K, PM me and I'll send you the body shop that does the nicest work I have seen. FRP hi-flex stuff can be painted by anyone. It all depends on the prep work done and the paint used on the car.
Below are some of the cars I have had painted. You may cry about paying 6K, but you would cry even more with a 3K paint job. and I have seen too many 3k paint jobs.

For 6K I would expect a lifetime warranty and something insanely cool like a pearl paint with different color underlay. The economy sucks and people are not going to pay that much for a paint job. There are shops that do amazing work for dirt cheap right now just to cover rent. Hopefully I find one of these.
I do appreciate the info but I also need to invest in the power aspect of my FC i.e.: turbo, WG, mani etc

Rent a spray booth. Buy paint from a local jobber. Find a friend with a quality HVLP gun. Prep at your house. Take it there. Shoot primer. Block sand. Fix any imperfections. Sealer. Base. Clear. Sand n buff.
(don't forget the flex agent!!!!!!!!)

Nothing looks worse than an imperfection in a paint job. If you are going to be cheap about it, ask the body shop for a firm quote and ask for pictures of previous paint jobs. Also look at current cars in the shop that just get out of the paint booth. A good painter will have no ripples and no drips on the paint. You can look down the side of the car and it looks like smooth glass. The majority of the paint jobs never look like this for 3k.
If you're putting a body kit on your car, you better know what you are doing. Or else it looks like **** when the kit doesn't get adjusted out to look flush.

You seriously might be better of sanding, prepping and painting the car yourself so you can learn the hard way. Paint guns are cheap at Harbor Freight. You could probably do the whole job yourself for $600-$1000 in materials. The paint is the expensive part.

+1 for the DIY route. You can really do an awesome job if you're careful and it's a total waste of money (at least relative to resale value) to spend $3k+ on a paint job for an FC. At the same time I agree that you'll be sad with most options under $1k so DIY is the only thing that makes sense. FWIW I did my whole nose (hood, front bumper, both fenders) for $200 in medium high end materials. Match is near perfect and no issues with painting urethane.
There's a Finish Master right by my house in Pasadena if you need materials. They can walk you through all the flex additive steps, give you mix instructions etc. I vote Mazdaspeed blue to go with your white wheels. Are you emptying the engine bay for truly full paint?

I have seen these $500 paint jobs. The paint comes right off after 6 months and gets stuck on your towels every time you wash the car.

Lucky for me the white paint under the hood is flawless so I only have to paint door jams and exterior. This is another reason why ReZ311 might think its worth 6K... sorry forgot to mention it... and... its gonna get sprayed with the same color white... I do love that blue though Joel but maybe for my other FC...

Here's a lil somethin somethin i just got done with:
Borrowed my friend's dad's HVLP, blew up a lil compressor after sprayin primer , borrowed a compressor from work, $200 in materials. Mazda Copper Red Mica.
Looks better in the photos. Still pretty damn good for my first time ever spraying plus it's an engine bay. (Who really cares other than it's the same color as the outside? ) All the curves are a bitch and getting good coverage.
Go the DIY route. Once you accrue all the right stuff, I'm sure some ppl would be down for a kick back and prep. If jaime calls them, they shall come.

So tempted. I have a place too but I still dont trust myself. If I screw it up, I'll have to start over again. SS is too close to take a risk LOL

But seriously, white is the EASIEST (don't quote me on that) color to paint. Especially if it's the stock color with no metallic or pearl. If you set up an HVLP gun correctly, showed a monkey a video of a guy spraying, then let him have at it, there'd be no runs. Just mix and spray EXACTLY as the manufacturer specifies. I used BASF Onyx HD for my base and some random primer and clear to keep cost low (hard/expensive to buy higher end in small quantities). I could only imagine how it'd look with the matching products and an actual spray booth.

This is very true. OK I'm gonna get a quote on all materials. We already have 2 guns at the shop so this gets easier... and we can make another booth...hmmm DAMMIT Blake! See what you did!!!!

Haha. Your welcome
Your probably gunna wanna go with Dupont Chromabase system or BASF R-M Onyx HD from what I've found looking around. Unless you can get a KILLER hookup on PPG, it's not worth it. Both are entry high end paints. Easy for the beginner. Chromabase uses the same "Basemaker" Activator-Reducer across the board which makes it convenient and a lil cheaper.
