3 dead, 2 critically injured in Eagle Rock crash
From the Associated Press

6:05 AM PDT, August 28, 2008

Authorities say three people including a pregnant woman and a 12-year-old girl were killed and two others were critically injured when their car slammed into a tree at high speed in northeast Los Angeles.

Police spokeswoman April Harding says the crash happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night on Colorado Blvd. in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Three blocks of the street remained closed seven hours later.

Police say three men were thrown from the black Nissan Maxima. One was killed and two others were at a hospital in extremely critical condition.

Lt. John Romero tells KTLA that investigators believe the accident was the result of a three-car street race. He says police found victims and severed body parts in the street when they arrived.

No identities have been released.

John Chavez, 38, who lives nearby, said he heard a "loud thump" at about 10:30 p.m., went outside and saw "blood and debris everywhere." He saw a "torso" in the middle of the street, another person on the pavement screaming for help, and a woman stuck in the twisted wreckage.

that would be pretty fucked up to see

Darwinism can be painful at times........It is great(and surprising) to hear that no innocent people were involved or hurt.

You're kidding right? => "23-year-old late-term pregnant woman (unborn baby lost) .... 12-year-old girl dead".

Great sense of humor!!!

yeah the maxima and an mitsubishi eclipse were racing, I'm sad that people died in this, but come on they are both stock cars and they were both being dumb, and because of this all cars that are fixed up will begin to get pulled over again. Also the girl driving the Maxima was pregnant, how the hell in your right mind would you race while being 7 months pregnant?

My car has an eject button that whenever pressed, it will open the sunroof fully and chairs equipped with jet backs eject me, the driver out with a built-in parachute.

I am so awesome.

I am not L'ingOL at this tragic accident, but I do LOL when I see a 4 door sedan racing with some pos junker on the freeway. Puts the word "ridiculous" to shame.

i have a hard time feeling sorry/bad for people that fall victim to racing accidents if they are the ones racing. all innocent people however you just want justice for them. then for people like us you just wanna be left alone...we don't build bad reps, it's the dumb ones that make 'em for us.
