I have a lot to think about

So I recently just bought a 86 fc NA and to be honest, I love the **** out of it. This is my first car and I know for damn sure I'm keeping it. in about 8 months i'm inheriting some money and was looking to put at the most 5 thousand into my car, but I'm not sure what I want to do as far as the engine goes, an LS1 would be great but that's not really my thing I mainly like cruising through the twisties and was wondering if any of you had any thoughts if I should just rebuild my NA engine, get a TII or maybe even an SR20DET, so yeah please just throw any ideas out there I'm still new with this stuff and looking for some...I guess you can say guidance. This is a beautiful car and I do not want it to end up some piece of junk, thanks.

+1 for lucky 7

i know some of the guys personally.. teddys rite bout them being down to earth and chill!

if you really want to invest some money, your better off going old school with the rx2s or moving up to fd's..

i own 2 fcs... fun lovable cars, but like they said, their every were...

but any who.

if ya want to fix the fc that bad, either get the motor rebuilt and get a port on it or just do a t2 swap (like many fc owners ) . get coil overs, or things you want to make the car look nice.

well good luck man

Go with suspension and a rebuild for starters.....hold on to your remaining dollars and shop the forums for good deals on parts...I think your 5k sould hold you down, If I was in your shoes..Id buy smart and remain extremely patient, especially with the rotary.

It appears his whole purpose in setting aside a budget and creating this thread is to fix/upgrade the car...broken or not. With 5k to spend Id run wild with ways to hook up my FC while saving a little money on the side too.

what are your "goals" for the car? do you want to just drive it around town and hit up canyons occationally? are you trying to take it to the track? if so, would you be doing autocross? road racing? drifting? do you want more power? would you like it to handle better?

it's easy to spend a lot of money on the wrong stuff, or a little money on the right stuff. it all depends on finding the right direction and what will best suit your needs within your budget.
