Ok so this is what I want to do

1) Avoid it all and get this over with no work needed

2) Pay it off (Aslong as its not much, just paid 250 to get my car out of the impound and thats cutting my savings to live off of gone, dont they only want 200 or so or can you not pay them off for the mods anymore?)

3) Get it dropped and sell/store the 7, I mean if I cant ******* have this motoria exahust ill store the car or **** it just sell it for a more reliable car that cops wont bitch about.

4) Go to a officer with the silencers in, let him know a pms'ing chp bitched about it, show him how loud it is, maybe he'll sign it off? I got no idea

Basically I was near hwy 5, sure you know what that is, if not you're probably a cali newb or live under a rock.

chp goes behind, I was no way near loud (Hell the exhaust isnt even that loud, just has a deep growl over most exhausts (I had a corkcrap) ) lights go on, says its due to exhaust, makes me pop hood checks all over, tells me cali has two exhaust laws, nothing over what 90db? I forget I didnt sleep for 48 hrs when he pulled me over, this exahust is no where near that loud I know so I told him, he said he didnt have a db tester and didnt give a **** to check hes like remember i said theres another law and thats no modified exhaust, so yeah like you west guys bitch about, finally I got bit with it and im over this.

Dont ******* say search or whatever, im curious what my options are, I've never been bothered ever, even in silicon valley (San Jose) where cops will stop you in a parking lot for a cigarette and check your age, exhaust, tint, whatever. Never stopped me with a corksport which is MUCH louder then this. CHP was a dick, even grabbed my cigarettes out of my hand (Asked if I smoked, said no as I thought he was asking bout pot due to me looking tired) he said no those, I look and saw a pack on my pass seat, I picked it up in tiredness and he yanked it out my hand called me a liar and walked off saying i wont ticket you for these, have a good day.

Anyways my town dont care, when my corksport was jacked (srsly ******** stole my exhaust when the 7 broke down) I got this exahust which is decently quiter that I never even tried the silencers, never had a cop look at me bad even at high rpms near them, so I was thinking put those silencers in and speak with a cop or maybe two, but is this illegal? When I go to court what do they ask or whatever?

I'm pretty ******* angry about this, a good friend of mine for 3 yrs just moved, I picked him up from a city i never been too 10min east of hwy5, I take him back in the morning as I'm going home tired as hell waiting to sleep after a shitty hot 1 1/2hr drive I get ******* bullshitted and now I gotta ******* go to court in that city, **** its not even summer over there and its so hot you sweat with the ac max, my 7 was even over heating at 10am when I got pulled over

I'm sure I'll get some bs posts, go for it immature ******, I appriciate like always good help now that this has hit me anything you can let me know go for it, oh yeah and if anyone has a motoria dual (isnt the brand another name?) the exhaust is probably markted as 50state legal, this exahust does not ******* make more emissions that chps a lying douche bag and hopefully karma gets him -_-

 

How modified is your exhaust?

Is it all stock up to the y-pipe and mufflers?

Do you have a CAT?
Aftermarket header/downpipe?

Did the cop look under your car at all?

Does the ticket only say modified exhaust?
No excessive exhaust noise or similar?



If he didn't use a dB meter then you might be able to get it signed off/thrown out.
I'm pretty sure you still have to pay the fine no matter what though...but if you win they'll mail the money back to you eventually.
Not sure about that info though, never had an exhaust ticket before even though im running a straightpiped Apex'i N1 in Elk Grove

If no CAT or you have a downpipe/header then he wins the modified exhaust ticket, if it's all stock except for the y-pipe back then you might win.
He didn't use a dB tester but you may be over the limit which I am pretty sure is 95 dB's. So hopefully the cop that signs it off won't check it with a dB meter but most likely will as it's written on your ticket as a failed item.

You can legally modify your exhaust as long as it is past the last CAT converter and it exits behind the rear axle.

He looked like "where the hell is the modified parts" then as hes telling me about the cali lawsI tell him to look he did theres a cat he saw it, he obviously saw when he looked its just a cat-back exhaust as I said, and I told him no headers, stock everything else. Just I had my old exhaust stolen and this was a good price to come by, ******* didn't care

Just says 27150 (A) vc modified exhaust correctable violation and I gotta go to court 6/2/09 which really sucks I gotta waste 40 bucks on gas -_-, anyway you can call and get it moved to a local court? Not my fault california is a communist state and that dick ***** decided to pull me over out of my area amirite?

for the db, I told him its not over the limit he said something something mentioned the modified exhaust law and then said i dont even got a db tester on hand and pretty sure he said i dont give a **** to test it and then asked me for my lic/reg or told me to get in my car and wait.

It's just a Y pipe and mufflers, the motoria is a very very light exhaust, not very loud either but what my point is I DO have a stock exahust under my house probably covered in crap (black widows and such), it's a pain in the *** to remove the siding of mobile homes to get to where the exhaust is under the house, it was already rusted to crap (I think all the bolts are broken so I'd need to source new ones or so) plus it weighs about 45lbs I think, I have no doughnuts and dont really got time/money to put the old exhaust on, I cant work on my car at my house I had to put on the motoria in a parking lot and thats embarrasing as hell, I'd rather just not drive a car since I dont need to drive to work or anything

but yeah theres gotta be some way around this, if there isnt i'm gonna try to do somthing.

I want all those ******* with them trucks with those loud duals, what about them damn harleys im tired of hearing those too! Pretty much half the cars I see on the road have a aftermarket muffler, even my aunt who doesnt know what a spark plug does has a flowmaster on her hemi durango here in cali, she'll never be bothered by a cop because its a domestic and not a civic right?

 

i remember a while back,people were able to just pay it off,without having the inspection done.it was somewhere from $80-$200,dont know now how the laws are or if its mandatory to have the car inspected in order to correct the violation.just wait for the mail for the actual citation court date,if you have a bail amount,then you are in luck,if there is no bail amount then you will have to correct the violation.good luck either way.hope you get it resolved.

 

Its correctable so you should be able to get it signed off. Then you just pay $10 proof of correction fee and you should be done. Keep your original ticket with the signature and your receipt from paying it off as it may help you get out of a ticket if you get pulled over for it again.

I got a modified exhaust ticket on my old N/A, I don't remember the number, it was for being too loud. I had an single Apexi N1 4" muffler with straight pipes all the way from the manifold lol. All I had to do was put my stock system back on and take it to the CHP station and have a person look at it and see it wasn't loud then go to the court house and pay $10 and I was good to go. No court unless you want to fight it.

 

Oh yeah thats what it is but I'm not gonna drive 200 miles to go to some fat bitch behind a desk :P

1SWEET7, they ticket for just a modified exhaust, even a racing beat would get a ticket, thus I posted this since I just realized people are being targeted esp imports I'm sure.

He didn't say my car was that loud, he was saying the modified exhaust makes more emissions and gives horsepower for racing

too bad I didnt have the silencers in, the exhaust doesnt look like coffee cans pointing out, he went off on how I didnt have the exhaust "baffles" in even.

 

LMAO...I was in the same situation about 2 years, 4 years, 10 years and 13 years ago. I cant really knock emissions laws, but I can knock the people that pull my Japanese car over and not my old loud *** straight piped no exhaust detroit muscle.

Okay so I was talking to a fried about tints and he said normally he gets away with it for his skin disease (Mexican with patches of pure white skin all over his body) he said the cops normally dont want to appear in court thus they let em go.

So if I had a cop in my city sign it off without changing the exhaust (Which they'll probably do) will I get any issues with that?

 

Man that really ******* sucks dude. I'd be sad and pissed if I couldn't drive my 7 due to some douchebag *** cop. I'm glad I live in a part in PA where I won't get pulled over for my exhaust being too loud. I'm buying the same exact set up you have from motoria, is it a good, quality exhaust? I don't want to waste my money on garbage and I feel you on scumbags stealing your ****. I had the same thing happen to me too.

 

Does the state still have referees? I got a ticket for a loud exhaust and I took it to a state referee, got it tested with a decibel meter that showed my exhaust could be twice as loud and still pass. They give you a certificate with your results and put a sticker on your ticket saying your exhaust is legal. I think you still have to pay a small paperwork fine or some crap but it beats swapping out the exhaust. Do a search for my name here in the west section for more info on my exhaust ticket.
