Help! In San Diego!

Car is a 1986 sport fc3s. I need to correct my timing in order to pass smog. Problem is I don't have timing marks on my crank pulley and I don't want just any mechanic to adjust the timing for me. I've heard you can blow you motor if it isn't done right. I really wish I could find some local help... I'm about to just get rid of the car for half the price I paid for it. I've saved up almost $1000 and I'd like to be able to get this thing back into shape. Another thing is I don't want to throw more money into it if the money is just going to end up down the drain. I bought the car in incredibly crappy shape when I was like 17 from some fuc ker. It has a mazda reman, but the wiring is shi tty as fu ck and the engine bay is pure filth. No one will even buy it for the $1600 I posted it for. I don't know I'm just at my last resort... I'm thinking about joining the military so I don't have to worry about living life and just follow orders...

Here is the procedure to finding TDC on your crank pully:

1. Remove both rear rotor spark plugs.
2. Rotate the crank until you can see an apex seal (tip of the rotor) in the trailing spark hole. The trailing plug hole is restricted, making the seal somewhat difficult to see. Use a flexible light and a mirror. When the seal is seen, mark the crank.
3. Rotate the crank until you see the same apex seal in the leading spark plug hole. This plug hole is not restricted, which makes it easy to see the seal. Mark the crank.
4. Halfway between your two marks is TDC for the front rotor (#1) rotor.

so I found the timing marks on my crank after doing the above procedure. New question is where to set the crank at? I put it at the first mark on the far right and it turned over and ran weak... I should have taken better care of it. It's been sitting for a while. Sprung a minor fuel leak that will be fixed tonight.
