Truthfully, it has more cooling issues than my rotary ever had... but I had some seriously audiable knocking on the track after coolant hit 230+ and it still runs like a champ...

I would never have been able to do that with a rotary, and still drive it home...

I think the reason is that the fan is a POS, and was originally wired backwards... to push instead of pull, and the fact that the radiator isn't boxed in, and I don't have a belly pan... I think any 1-2 of those will solve it, since on a cool night or with enough air moving through it bearly moves off 190-200 but when is stop and go or road racing there's too much heat and not enough air movement...

I'm putting in a Volvo fan this weekend to effectively doubble the CFM's through the rad. That should solve the stop and go problem...

sounds good, i believe that with the cooling issue..what fan do you have in there? the fd stock fans? what track were you at? i would think that the fd fans would work perfectly..

It's the Hinson Fan...

LSX V8 Cooling System Package: $630.00 (FDCOOL1)
Package includes custom built double pass all aluminum radiator, HD 16" 2,500cfm single fan,
all hoses & clamps, high pressure radiator cap, polished aluminum radiator shroud, and AC condenser mounts.
Radiator guaranteed for one year.

The radiator installs using factory mounting locations. With this pre-assembled package, your
installation time will be less than twenty minutes. This package will cover your entire cooling
system needs.
The Fan Is a POS and because there is no shrouding it doubt it works as efficiently as a 2500 CFM fan... could with proper shrouding... either way the volvo fan is supposed to move 3600 cfm's + ....

The Dual Fans for the FD are too thick, and due to the "Dual" nature have fitment issues....

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think some other people will be going to K1 in Irvine though.

Yeah man, like I said, that fan SUCKS!!! I had the same issue when I ran that fan at WSIR. After putting the Taurus fan on, I have no more overheating issues, well, as far as coolant temp goes. For oil, I'll probably just use a stock FD oil cooler, an oil filter pedestal adapter, and run custom lines for a cheap, but efficient oil cooler!

So does that mean we get hookups at the club?

I should be able to meet everyone at the next meet. BTW a buddy of mine left his fender roller and heat gun at my house. If anyone needs a rolling or pulling, let me know. I don't know how long I'll have the equitment though... and I'm no expert at pulling, the rolling is easy. PM me if you need some work done.
