Free drags put on by police
Everyone in spitting distance can come to the free drags in Eureka Ca. Out at the somoa dragstrip on July 21st. I would love to see more RX7's out there. I seem to be the only one HECK you can even race a police cruiser--Priceless
It's also happening 2 saturdays in august. The strip is brand spanking new too!
Thankyou Eureka Police Dept.

NO NO NO They just turn a blind eye. I try and introduce myself and shake hands. These officers want people to drag here---- not on the street. Hell one of them has a wicked street bike. Cops not so much fun down in the bay HUH?

Police should do this in other area's as well.
I forgot to mention the drag is 1/4 mile
The strip is brand spanking new too!
I love living in HUMBOLDT COUNTY
SPECTRUM you should make it a weekend trip up to humboldt. The drags could be a bonus. If you've never been up here you should check it out. The free drags will be held in august and sept too.

haha nah I was just joking around. Wish we got free drags around here, we do have days where you race the cops but you still need to pay for that.

[QUOTE=jgrts20;7151430]Sonoma isnt that upstate(Norcal).
It's spelled samoa dragstrip (I type to fast sometimes). Eureka is located about 175 miles north of sonoma. The dragstrip is actually located on the beach about 10 min from Eureka.

Holy shiite, If keep forgeting how big Cali is, Ill probably get lost just driving around out there. Every time we visit Cali every year we strictly stay in the San Jose- Santa Barabra area, so Im just use to driving back and fourth on highway 101. So would that put Eureka around Santa Maria area? (thats where i'll be settling!!

Ok quick question. I need some opinions.
Guys at my work are comparing **** size's
What do you think 2007 5.7ltr TUNDRA vs. 2001 Honda prelude H22 DOHC VTEC
Tundra has exh. the honda has intake and exh.
Who's gonna win in the 1/4 mile drag???
Both these guys have never been out to the dragstrip.
Whats your guess

No, not making this up! Now you know the tundra has 381hp/401ft lbs of tq
Its the all new tundra.
I just wanted to get an opinion on this from people who know cars. I will show this forum in our monday meeting for ***** and giggles. We are going out sat to the free drags to see who is best.
I'm thinking prelude but that tundra has a 6spd trans with a slap stick. Kinda impressive
EVERYONE TAKE A GUESS!!!! Then I'll post the results up sat night!!!!!!

Prelude with an H22 and a 6 speed sequential gearbox you say? I lean Prelude! The Tacoma may have power, but it also has weight and gearing to it's disadvantage.
Also, Eureka is a nice little town, been there each of the 2 times I have driven to Alaska (1992, 2006). I love redwood country. If anyone ever plans to drive to the northern states, the 1 and 101 are the way to go. Wonderfully scenic and great twisty roads. Just don't speed in the towns or near the Cali-Oregon border. I learned the border one the hard way.
oh yeah, to be on topic... The fact that your cops put on a free drag on saturdays in the summer shows that unlike most other police forces in Cali and around the USA that they care more about safety then money. It has been proven in many cities that free/low cost drags on the weekends reduces illegal racing by drastic numbers. The fact that they aren't busting people afterwords shows they aren't just after money and they want people to feel like it's a safe place to drag.
Haha, it's like an amnesty box for drag racing. You drag on the track we don't question the car!
Unfortunately this doesn't work in SoCal, they care about money not public safety!
