Finally My Car Starts

if you remember i was going through hell with my motor swap and it not starting. finally it starts and then by itself revs to rev limit. i dont know why its doing this. its not trying to hold an idle. right after it cranks it just slowly rises to rev limit. i was thinking it could be my TPS but im using my whole UIM and Throttlebody off of my s4 TII. i dont think it'll do that if i have a disconnected vaccum hose will it? if anyone is willing to help please put your input or if your willing to come take a look at it i would appreciate that too. also to whoever went to the san diego bbq i apoligize for not showing up. i was busting my *** on my motor and it looks like it payed off. this puts me one step closer to having my car on the street and showing up at the next bbq

if you manually open the throttle is the spring tension weak? sounds like the spring is broken somehow, a vacuum leak would make the car run like *** so the only thing i can think of is the throttle plates are opening on their own somehow, that is unless you are running a standalone?

either that or the throttle cable/arm is stuck and the car is running rich and the momentum is bringing the RPMs up slowly.

lastly, is the throttle body modified?

have someone start the car while you watch the throttle linkage, be sure it does not move from the idle position, if it does i would start with my first suggestion above.

open the throttle with the car off and be sure the throttle arms come to rest at idle to be sure the cable isn't jammed somehow. a vacuum leak causing the engine to run that high shouldn't be too tough to locate if it happens to be a vac leak. take a can of carburetor cleaner while the engine is running at lower RPMs and spray around the gaskets and lines, a present vacuum leak will cause the engine to accelerate or bog down, no changes means there is no leak but be cautious with this method and only do it on a cold engine with known good plug wires and a fire extinguisher handy.
