FC noob questions. :(

I am a complete noob when it comes to FC's. I am working on a 91 vert auto for a friend.
Couple questions

1- the thermostat housing is splitting along the housing. What is the normal fix? Plastic weld? Does someone make a aluminum version?

2- a check engine light comes on about 30-45 seconds after you start driving and the car loses all power. What could it be? Is there a way to get a code like on a FD? The car runs nice and strong until the light comes on.

1. Replace it. Yes. Mazdatrix.

2. Sounds like limp mode. Most often, it's due to the oil metering pump. Is it activating the check engine light? Pulling codes on an S5

Thanks. That link is exactly what I was looking for.
I had already found the part on mazdatrix but was thinking $73 was a LOT high for that piece. More like $20-30 would be reasonable.

considering the metal version will outlast the car, it is well worth the price compared the the plastic OEM version which can cook a motor and has.

i bought the metal one from mazdatrix installed and forgot about it. never had any issues after that. its worth the 75 bucks that or risk overheating the engine.
