Exhaust noise

Well... I finally got pulled over for my exhaust, for it being too loud...

So yea, got pulled over today, and the officer didn't bust me for emissions but for my exhaust noise. So should I bolt everything stock from the turbo back to the catback and than put the silencer in it. Or do you think I can get away with just putting the silencer in?

i would put it all back on to be safe. i believe your aloud one retest, and after that you have to pay each time if you keep failing stuff. i had a friend go in for the inspections, and they would tell him to fix one thing, hed fix it and come back for a retest, and they would tell him there is somthing else wrong with it.

I would put everything stock back. Also put the cats back in as well. So that when your car is in idle it would not stink as bad. This happened to me years ago. I had to get it signed off, at the CHP station. The officer told me to turn my engine on and rev a few times. Than jack *** went closer to the mufflers and started to smell the exhaust.

ditto with the stock system, even with the plug in the exhaust might still have a chance of failing and without cats they might also say something about that, not worth the risk.

I'm with everyone on stock system.

But if you know someone with a DB meter and you can test it... I think it's approx. 1ft away from the exhaust at a 45' angle pointing IN and TOWARDS the car.

Any exhaust is legal (sound wise) if it passes the DB meter so you could have anything on there you want if it passes and they'll have to give you a pass. Not only that, you'd now have printed proof that the exhaust (they take pictures of it) passes noise regulation. I'd love to get one of those with a Corksport and then shove that in a pig's face when he pulls you over for it.
