I think the video was also taken with a DSLR camera, maybe the 5D MKII? At around 4min during the engine shot, you can see that jello effect from the rolling shutter of an SLR

Like I said respect the effort into the video, hate the car... but on a side note, if you ever want to do some "Short" FX stuff this is what I do professionally...

I primarily do Pipeline, and Rigging, so I setup the skeletal structure of the characters, attach the model, make certain it deforms well, and then figure out how to get them into lighting, and rendering. But I've done, some of my own 3D / 2D Compositing, Editing, and 3D Modeling, and Texturing... just not on those spots.
Some of the robots in the first spot (LG) were particularly difficult.... a lot of it used procedural animation.
