Just v-band the i/c pipes and put your plate in between your windsheild and dash on the pass. sid, thats what we do here after getting pulled over for no front plate

License plate in the front window is a dangerous thing to do. Think twice before considering this.

when they pull you over, they dont even try to search you...they can visually make out objects in your pockets due to your pants being so tight hahahaha

Glendale/Burbank is a dangerious spot. But again, in 3 years this is the first time ive been pulled over for no front plate. Ive also been pulled over because the cop thought I was under the influence. Which I wasnt.

Plate on the dash is not a good idea.

You might wanna put the air pump back on too. They'll bust you for that if they are smart. I can't really look around your engine bay but your sig says "restrictor plates" I'm assuming that means emissions block off plates. Those are illegal too. If you do get sent to the referee put your emissions **** back in, leave the intercooler and you should be fine.

And put your front license plate on.
How do you put the stock FD airbox back in while still keeping the front mount intercooler? From my limited knowledge of FD's, I think he would have to take off the v-mount just to fit the stock intake on.

Its funny how police treat modified cars sometimes. I mean shoot, Brismo's hood got popped and the cop asked if his car was stock and even said "Corvette" across the valve covers in his MAZDA.

Stock airbox probably won't fit with that piping setup. Not even sure the CARB approved HKS stuff will fit in there either.

The intercooler itself is fine but if you can't get that intake stock or CARB approved they'll flag you for it.

I did pull the carb sticker off my friends wrecked miata and slapped it on my intake. Thats why the cop didnt say anything I guess. But it is risky. I didnt know HKS was carb certified. Gives me a reason to pick one up.

god, cops are getting dumber and dumber.
from a smog tech point of view, meaning i know WAY more than 99% of cops on whats legal and whats not, the only thing that you MIGHT get nailed for is the twin power. thats it. if an intake doesnt have CARB numbers, its not "legal", but seriously, who the **** cares.
YOURE FINE, hes just a moron. let him write you a ref ticket, take it to a ref with your setup (put the air intake back on), get it ok'd, then go back to the cop and throw it in his face......
or just go to his boss and tell him hes discriminating or however you want to spin it.

******* cops. heres a fun stupid bill they proposed. higher level cops to be sent to smog classes to learn about emissions and whats legal and not. i LOL'd hard when i heard that.

also, the front licence plate is ******* BS. my neighbor has a GTO and another neighbor has a chevelle, neither of them get fucked with, but i do all the time driving my 7. oh well, just deal with it, welcome to california

Lloyd
edit, just re-read the thread. you might want to put the air-pump back on if you get sent to a ref, just to be on the safe side.

I have over 20 years of law enforcement experience (the biggest gang on earth) so I told my fellow gang members to be on a look out for "Armenians" in Glendale who are driving a FD. Give them tickets left and right since they got the dough. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Only certain HKS and K&N cone filters are Carb certified. Need to check you got the right one before buying.

One thing I've learned from all this, I'm selling my Duncan Donuts stock and buying Starbucks A clear shift in their "primary" consumer demand.

heres my setup
the hks intercooler should be legal, its just 1 letter off from what the carb paperwork says on the carb website. The custom intake would not be legal.

i picked up a 2nd hand hks fc3s kit on ebay *which should also be legal*

Now I can still get shitted on because to a cop, it doesnt matter if he is right or wrong, they would just tell you that "If I am wrong, the ref can correct it for you" blah blah.

So i been rollin around with a gutted airbox lid

Bottom completely removed, just sits above the intake, got ducting to the area too from the bottom.

I havent been pulled over yet, but i only drive to school right now.
I hate the airbox lid but i just rock it as added insurance.
I really like how empty the engine bay looks without the airbox lid and my strut bar.

If it has a CARB sticker they won't bother you for it. Intercoolers are not illegal to change.

I like the gutted airbox though that is pretty smart thinking. Even though the intake is legal, it'll make them think the rest of the car is stock too.

I'm -1 on the plate in the dash.

Its a way to remind the cop that you don't have it on your car in the proper place, IMO worse than not having one at all.

^^^damn funk, i guess the guy didnt care. its kinda funny, guys who will smog sports car and such imho know a little more about cars and are in general WAY easier to deal with, i guess cause they know that BAR isnt going to run an FD or vette or something like that in as an undercover.
meh, thats cool. when i had my mistress, the guy smogged it no problem, even with a filter on the smog pump and a HUGE cone filter on the AFM.

I was wondering about this. I went to the ARB site. See attached PDF file. There's another one with EO number D-186-22. You can grab the file HERE. Also found this on the HKS site: HERE. Still wouldn't surprise me if a copper gave you a hard time... you can't win with these guys.

wow.............i stand corrected.
to the OP. print out that pdf file and keep it with you, just in case you get pulled over and hastled, if you show them that, there is NO way they can ticket you. theyll back off quick if you had legit paperwork for mods...........i hate cops when they flaunt power and cant back it up with brains.
