Coolant seal tester? anyone or shop have one?

Hey guys, i started workin on the FD again, and i have the motor down to the short block. I want to test to see if my coolant seals are still good before i put the motor back in the car.

Does anyone know any shop that has this tool that can test it for me for cheap? or does anyone have it i can pay you to borrow it? I dont feel like spending $60 for a tool im only gonna use once, and in the event it actually is blown sounds like a waste of $60.00 that could go towards the rebuild if it needs one

I am pretty sure Autozone has one you can rent for free, just pay the deposit and get it all back when you return.

I think you answered your own question.

Did you pinch a coolant seal or something?

haha well im looking for a cheaper route first.

Its a long story but what happend was, my car wasnt making power i didnt know why, i thought it was maybe a cracked apex seal, and also the water pump went dead. So even tho it was still running, i decided im just gonna pull the motor out and look for the problem. while pulling it in the garage the car started to climb on the temp and overheat before i shut her down.

While pulling it out and tearing it down i found the culprit of me not making power on the turbo manifold. So i checked the compression and its all cool. But since the motor is outta the car i wanna check if the coolant seals are still good after that overheating, before i go through the trouble of putting the motor back in the car. The motor only has 10k on a fresh rebuilt so i dont wanna pull it apart if i dont have to. So my only option is to check if the coolant seals are still good. Then i can put it all back in and be driving again!
