Hmmm wonder if you've seen my roommates FD over there? He drives it to school sometimes too... I'm always down for a meet and maybe a cruise? You FD guys never drive your cars hard though huh? :p

Lol yeah it is... so since you aren't Josh and you aren't my roommate I guess you would be a 3rd montego-blue, RX7-Club, FD owner in Chico... allegedly. We need to do a photo shoot!

Ah yes the joys of smog! I feel your pain... it took me 3 months to get my FC to pass... turned out it was a faulty circuit in the ECU that was causing my problems. No wonder it took so long to troubleshoot!

If you need help or advice you should let my roommate take a look at it. He has friends come up here from the bay all the time to use our garage... he's pretty talented, and were always willing to help out a fellow 7 owner!

that would be awesome...I'm gonna take it to Rick's Rotary this thursday and have him diagnose the car, if he doesn't get it fixed I'll bring my car up to chico to see if you guys can pinpoint the problem.

I've lived next to rick rotary for years now. All I can say is that my experience was less than professional. I had a car inspected for their $100 inspection, they reported a few things such as leakdown on the shocks, and a few oil leaks here and there, but said the car drove fine. I took the car to Big-O- Tires around the corner and got an alignment, but they couldn't get it perfect. I turns out the subframe was bent from a previous accident and the car would always veer left. This is all recorded and signed off by big-o-tires with measurements. However...ricks rotary said the car drove true and straight. I'll take my money elsewhere next time.

hmmm...now i'm starting to have doubts about rick. Well I've already scheduled an appointment and he said it would be $65 to do diagnostics. And the main reason that I really wanna head down there is to pick up a Bonez HF cat for $250 used of course

I'll try to get a hold of Karack...

First time I've heard anything bad about Rick's Rotary (that wasn't an issue with price). With that said you are a lot closer to Karack and I know without a doubt that he does good work.

As for the whole alignment thing sometimes people miss things or just aren't equipped to check certain things.

UPDATE on my build

I just finished stripping all the sound-deadening and tar out of the FC with dry-ice. Next step will be hitting all the seams with a wire-brush to prep them for welding. I also want to install a scatter-shield over the transmission-tunnel. After that I will probably coat the interior with bed-liner or maybe this stuff... http://www.lizardskin.com/ Anyone have any gripes with bed-liner for any reason?

Oh, and I disassembled the old engine last night. Seems a coolant seal went bad and the previous owner didn't drain the coolant afterwards. The rear housing was full of grime and rust. Not sure if it can be salvaged. The eccentric shaft looks great though.
