Changes are coming, and i have no hope.

Oregon Democrats=Job Killers. After Market Car Parts Companies in Trouble.

Last session it was the evil pay day lenders wiped out by the democrats in the state legislature (gee, wonder where the poor folks are getting their loans now?) When the state regulated the amount lenders could charge to loan to this high risk group of people, it wiped out more than a thousand jobs. Now the state legislative democrats are getting ready to kill off the after market auto parts industry in Oregon.

Under House Bill 2186(landru.leg.state.or.us . . .), after-market auto parts could be sold only if they increase fuel efficiency which is only regulated by the feds by the way. Blingy tires and wheels, spoilers, bike racks, storage "clam shells," low rider suspension hydraulics--- ANYTHING you put on a car after market that could cause any amount of drag on a car, ergo fuel efficiency, would be banned from sale in Oregon.

This is all in the name of "Man Made Global Warming" which doesn't exist. Man does NOT cause global warming. The sun does. Got it?

Actually man does cause global warming! If we don't take drastic measures now, there won't be a future to enjoy.

I think its funny, im not a specialist in this field but Global warming(known as G.W. for the rest of this short post due to laziness) seems to be the natural part of the eb and flow(sp?) of the earth, its true we are releasing carbon into the atmosphere. I dont think G.W. is our fault, but i do think we are hurrying it along a bit

Humans only account for 3% of the total carbon in the atmosphere. Carbon hasn't conclusively be proven to increase global temperatures. Global average temperatures over the last 10,000 years are still "lower" than normal.

This bill, unless Oregan's legislature is full of retards, won't pass. Far too many companies would lose money.

That bill is so nebulous in scope...provisions to make rules which provide:

Requirements to maintain or retrofit medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks in order to
reduce aerodynamic drag and otherwise reduce greenhouse gas emissions from those trucks
Look out, this means they can require you to do body work to the truck, lower the truck, cover the bed, not hook up open bed trailers, etc... They can write a rule in a back office somewhere with no voting or referendums that will require every truck owner to pay $2,000 in upgrades just to keep the truck on the road. Great, eh?

This is essentially a bill that gives the EQC the same rule making capacity over motor vehicles that you traditionally associate with power plants and large industrial constructions. Those shotgun approach regulations often have counter-effectiveness, I can point to specific problems but they get technical. The law ought to be bounced soundly off the floor. If the legislature feels this strongly about the CO2, they can write the laws themselves and get them passed via normal means, without this abdication of authority and responsibility to the EQC so that the laws will written in the worst way possible - the bureaucracy.

I seriously think Oregon and Cali are in competition to see who can come up with the most garbage ideas and spending. What pisses me off about Oregon is if you don't live in one of the bigger cities (Portland, Eugene, Salem, Bend?) your voice is not really heard.

Oregon assumes that if all the losers in Portland like an idea, then the whole state is for it.

I live in a smaller town where certain modifications such as a canopy, lift kits, larger tires, and tool/lumber racks are required for a lot of jobs. What are these people supposed to do.

It's obvious Ryosuke, clear cut every acre of forest you can find so that the Greenies get all pissy about that and start to worry about it again instead of your car. They can only concentrate on so many things at once.

Or tell them that Mt Hood will erupt and rain fire on Portland if people keep living there and the only solution is mass suicide.

Good! It's about time and hopefully others follow. People that modify his/ her cars are morons that should be spending that money on making the planet better or giving it to the church to help others in need of things like food and shelter. Anyone who feels mankind isn't depleting the earths resources at an exponentially increasing rate is ignorant and should be banned.

Your old junk cars need to be in the junkyard as well. They're polluting the environment just as much as junk RX-7's.

Seems to me that if it's mankind's fault the planet is getting depleted, the LAST thing you should do is provide food and shelter for "those in need."

Better for the planet if they die off, reduce the population, and decrease our overall carbon footprint, right?
