b/c i wanted to buy racing beat headers but their not street legal in california

I can't think of any headers for a rotary that are street legal if anyone would have them it would have been Racing Beat, but since they don't no one else could seem to possibly have one. CARB ftl good thing I'm in Louisiana lol. Sorry =(

 

Pacesetter and RB are the only producers right? Neither are legal in california. I'd say use the stock manifold, a straight pipe to the stock cat and a RB cat back if you wanna' stay legal, would that work?

from the Y-pipe back, modifications are legal. from the Y-pipe forward, any modification is illegal. its even illegal to replace a failed catalytic converter with a OEM unit yourself, your supposed to have a certified pro do it.

 

Just get the rb and pin/lock your hood so cops can't open it without a search warrant. And when you have to smog just replace it. Most anything done to your car is most likely illegal already so just F it.

 

Talked to a few check stations about the headers and so forth. As long as there's a catalyst (main cat) and connected properly, they're too stupid to realize the precats were removed. You have to get the header and the matching cat to pass. I know of a few people out here who pass with rb streetable header, matching cat, k&n smog legal intake. All other emissions equipment must be installed and operating properly.

 

maybe this is stupid but what is pin/lock ? and i think cops can just open it without search warrant cause it not that hard for them to get a search warrant you know

 

That would only apply to the Trunk if you are pulled over for modifications, although if there is enough probable cause, that CAN open it; i.e. nitrous line going to the trunk.

If you are pulled over (with or without pin-locks) and you are asked to pop your hood, the smart thing to do is just to pop it. Failure to comply can (and most likely will) result in being charged with Obstruction of a police officer and a few more charges - you are sent to jail and you car would be impounded as evidence.

 

No one has mentioned Rotary Performance, outside of Dallas. They claim "emissions pass-ability" for an NA with a RB Street Header and Bonez cat (combo or seperate).

you can barely see the header though... well maybe it's because i don't look into my engine bay at all or something. its not like a honda where there headers are right in front of you

 

I had a Racing Beat header, bonez hi-flow cat, and Apexi N1 catback and passed smog not too long ago. The guy was cool and only cared about you passing the sniffer and not the visual.

 

you can pass smog by PM'ing DJDINO and wackyracer. they are the resident smog gurus.

you can also pass smog by junking your ride.

Anything cat back is legal as long as it meets sound requirements. Nothing else is legal even if you can pass the sniffer. Most won't pass it visually and if you get sent to the ref he definitely will cite you for it.
