I think it is a huge waste of tax payer money to do this. They could have at least parted the cars out, it looks like they had some nice things on their Hondas. Just another example of cops going on power trips and wasting money.

On the other hand, they are freakin' Hondas hahahahaha

how do you know for sure that the engine, tranny, etc is stolen? I like how you cops always assume " Well for all we know your engine is stolen." excuse . I hate that. Ive seen and heard many where modded cars get pulled over and cops assume that everything is stolen, because they dont have a sales reciept. Most of the times, tuners buy used stuff on forums, and ebay, or from friends, or junk yards.

But yeah, the only thing I agree is people that street race deserve their rides to be crushed. Take it to the track.

It's easy. I type this thing called a serial number and/or license plate number into this thing called a computer. It then does some kind of magic computing thing and tells me if the part and/or car is stolen. It's crazy I tell you!

hah then I wonder why the police that did that before didnt use this computer thing to look up if its stolen, but rather just assume its stolen and just issue a ref ticket lol

anyways if the motor is stolen , can you at least give the stolen motor back to the original owner? LOL

I'm not exactly sure I agree with that. As it encourages running from the police.

Wonder if they were multiple offenders.

This video kind of makes me sad as I've still got a soft spot for the EG civic hatch (my first relatively fast car)... That said, mine got stolen and stripped so it's even possible my engine was one getting crushed here.

On the street racing front I'm kind of torn. Stats are hard to come by because by the time the police show up in many cases it's just a single car wrapped around something solid--a single car incident. That said, Car and Driver reported something like 50 americans lose their lives every year to street racing. Still compared to all traffic deaths 50 is akin to a mear statistical asterisk. I know sometimes it involves innocent life but so do lots of accidental deaths. Frankly driving like an ******* weaving in an out of traffic or driving intoxicated both seem a lot more irresponsible to me that a group of friends throwing down in economy cars for laughs on a deserted stretch of road somewhere.

I think times were simpler and happier all around in the days of American Graffiti. We live in an over lawyered society and I don't think we're better for the extra enforcement. The OP asked for discussion so there's my $0.02. For what it's worth I think it's a shame we've come to this.

*organized* street racing is actually pretty relatively safe.... oakland docks?

i remember when someone wrecked a while ago - but that was only from the cops showing up and they were chasing him!

and what happens when someone chases you? YOU RUN!

I agree with this piece entirely. Its more or less the street racers that don't do it on a deserted stretch of road that ruin it for the "smarter" street racers. And weaving in and out of traffic like a madman just to get 1 car in front of me at the offramp is just ridiculous. I have yet to see just one of them get pulled over unfortunately.

I think the problem with parting the cars out is that you are just putting non street legal parts back on the road..
The D.A.R.E. program back in ohio used to confiscate drug cars and use them to catch drug dealers, why can't the cops do the same **** for racers, if you have a (excuse the oxymoron) 'bad ***' honda the kids will just think its another racer, and it can be used to catch them, hell you can go trolling and find a race and then give the guy that races you a ticket for doing so...

and btw,

Honda's are like fat chicks, they are fun as hell until your friends see you with one...

Well some parts like wheels for instance are not illegal. I understand getting rid of the motors and such.

They could get money from selling the motor, maybe even body parts or what not.

that is true, they can let them sit in the junkyard for a couple months just chain the hood shut, hell there are even lots of parts under the hood that are worth resale, the could sell the glass, seats, tires like you said.. but most of the cars the get fixed up are a dime a dozen anyways so it is probably just not worth the trouble...

Actually if the police did use the cars to get other ricers to street race them then the accused would just plead non-guilt due to Entrapment and there is just too much lack of direct evidence to convict them otherwise.

I agree, very entertaining video.

Less hondas on the road - Check

Less Chinese made fake aftermarket parts on the road - Check

Entertaining - Check

Gotta love it.

Who wants to move to Ontario? Watching the cars get crushed is entertaining.
