Beginning of the RX-7 Project

Hey,
I've been sitting on my 7 project for a few months and I finally have the time to start it. I'm looking at having the engine rebuilt by MazdaTrix... just a basic rebuild and I'm assuming the parts I have are in decent condition because the engine isn't blown... yet.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist and while the engine is being rebuilt, I was wondering if anybody knew how much it would be to have them completely strip the engine bay to be painted and polish the parts upon replacing them. I'm assuming this is probably a hefty fee if MazdaTrix does the polishing but was just curious as to the price of such a job.

Thanks in advance for any information.

They deffently chage for their work. If you can do most of the work yourslef it will be much cheeper. As for a pirce id try and call them up, I havent heard of anyone getting cleaning work done by them.

Also post some before and after pix sounds like you are going to do an amazing job!

better off doing all the work your self if your going to clean the engine bay you will save a **** load of money stripping everything down in the engine bay.

Well I figure I'll post a list of what I plan on eventually doing to the car and welcome any suggestions on companies or parts dealers since I am new to this kind of thing.

- Engine Rebuild (I figure MazdaTrix is the closest with the best prices.)
- Repaint and Polish Engine Bay
- 99 Spec Bumper, Fog Lights, Turn Lamps
- Rear Diffuser
- Some type of aftermarket hood... possibly Re-Amemiya.
- Hood Damper Kit
- Shift and Ebrake boots by Redline Goods with some extra material to recover my seats with the same styling which I'm sure I won't be able to do myself.
- I also need to replace the tan parts of my interior with black. I'm not sure how to go about getting the black carpet. I know the Mazda original carpet is expensive if it can be bought... I saw the group buy for the aftermarket though.
- I want to replace the stock audio system eventually also but it's not high on the priority list.

That's a partial list for now. My uncle works in a machine shop so I can probably get my polishing done by him. Any other suggestions for upgrades on a stock 7 would be welcomed. I'm not going to be racing it at the track but I am planning to upgrade the engine a bit - I just didn't list the parts.

I'll throw some before pictures up tomorrow when there's daylight since I won't have time today.
