Bay Area shops for a swap

I just got my FD and I need to do a swap. Do you guys know of any reputable shops in the bay that I can go to?

If I were in your shoes, I'd PM Karack. He works out of Yuba City, and does great work. He rebuilt the engine in my FD and it's purring like a kitten. I know Yuba City's not exactly the Bay Area, but for me it was worth the drive to have a guy with such a great rep working on my baby.

If you don't want to drive or have your car towed to NorCal, PR Motorsports is a reputable shop, and so is Ricks Rotary. Both in the Bay Area.

ricks is good but expensive.it's worth the money if you're willing to pay. they're in pleasanton off bernal and stanley i believe.

PR Motorsports is cool too. i haven't gotten any work done there personally but i've bought parts from there and talked to the owner (ironically also named rick). they're in hayward off of winton.

I would second Karack. That is where I will go for a rebuild next time.

I have taken my car to Ricks for minor stuff and he is great. But a rebuild is about 4k and will take up to 2-3 months.

PR Motorsports, only dealt with them once. Not sure about the rebuild stuff. They are not soley Rotary. They do all mazda and maybe other imports as well.

i think Rotorsport is in santa clara, but many people have their opinions about them... me personally won't have them do any work on my car, but i would go to them for parts...

I go to Rotorsport for lots of things, like brakes and minor suspension work, and also transmission/rear end fluid changes (I'm lazy). I don't know if I'd go there to have my motor rebuilt, though, I'd probably just leave that the Ben. Only problem with Ben is that, well, it's just Ben. There's only one of him, so it is possible for him to get quite busy at times. Now if we could clone him...

note...

I am not having then "rebuild" my motor...I am having them put in a rebuilt motor or a used one.

Does that change anybodies opinion?

Sorry I am new to this forum...where is Karack? Does he own a shop?

Just send him a Private Message. He's pretty busy usually, but I'm sure he'll be able to set you up.

Oh whoops, I forgot to mention, when I say Ben I mean Karack. He's located in Marysville/Yuba City, and yeah he does own his own shop.

Keep in mind that Rotorsport is in Santa Clara, where property value is insane and they have to charge $90/hr for labor just to pay their rent. Karack(Ben) lives where property values are a little lower and because of that he offers better prices on labor.

Rotory Sport prolly be alright at it. I wouldnt go to rotory sport for any engine work just minor stuff and parts. if your willing to wait a week or two My friend and I might be able to take up the job for less than what you'd spend at a shop. We have all the tools and equipment needed. First I'd have to talk/ask my friend about it and see what he' says.

we've been working on so many car's we havent had time for ourselves latly and he needs to study for a brokers exam... so it' would be 2 weeks before week can take the job/if he decides to take the job/ if you decide to go with us.

it would take around 2 days to complete the job that's if you have the engine and everything ready to go

I got my street ported engine done at PR Motorsports and they did a fantastic job. I messed it up 6 months later but thats not the point. They do very high quality work and do not charge TOO much. They do very quality work.

Surprise, surprise. Karack tunes. I am going to agree with everyone else who recommended Karack. Great guy, incredible work, and even better prices.
