Exclamation Bay Area Body Shops

Looking for a Body Shop in the Bay that does GOOD bodywork such as installing bodykits and doing paint jobs at a reasonable price.

Any help would be great.

I'd like to hear some recommendations, too. I plan to de-dent and paint 3 RX-7s this year, and I may do the REPU, too.

I got estimates from Maaco and Miracle in Mountain View, but I'm not impressed.

The only actual bodyshop experience I've had in the last several years is with Cooks in RC (I had my old Merc Sable in twice for minor repairs) and it was GOOD, but expensive. Those were insurance jobs.

bliffle, take a look at City Collision in mtnvw (just down the street from miracle), My friend has had several racecars painted by that guy, does pretty good work. His name is victor, and if you like them, tell him one of the gunn kids sent ya.

Image autobody in daly city is one of the best custom body shops in Frisco. Back in the late 90's when everyone started hopping on the tail light conversion band wagon, Image was the only shop that did it right. As a matter of fact, all the local crews that had thier cars done up by them were show winners. As for the price, a top notch reputation like that and work that speaks for itself, it won't come cheap. They commonly have a heavy stream of cars in thier shop as well, so I'm not sure how quickly you'll get your ride back. Good luck

It all depends on what your definition of "good" is and how much money you are willing to spend.

If money was no object I would recommend THE WORKS in santa clara, but they quoted me $8000 to paint my whole FD as a basis for measure. On the flip side, they do excellent work

I second Works Auto Body as doing excellent work. You get what you pay for, usually.

Show car quality paint

If you are in the South South Bay Area check out:

Renteria Bros
16870 Joleen Way
Morgan Hill, CA 95037-4608

Several times I've asked people at show cars where they got their paint job and frequent answer was Renteria Brothers. I have no idea on price though.

Also, excellent LS1 machine shop next door if you're into that kind of thing.

In San Jose area check out:

Michael J'S Auto Body
1601 Almaden Road, San Jose, CA 95125
(408) 279-3222

Again, I've seen their work, very very high quality and again don't know that price.
