AutoX FC Lineup

Had a killer time today with a pack of FC's at the SCCA AutoX practice at Autoclub speedway. Here's a quick lineup snapshot to prove that FC's are alive & well and still tearing-up the pavement. S.O.'s radical widebody (#358) posted fastest time of the day. Wish you were here.

I missed this. In January and February, I plan to at least spectate the Speedhunters events.

Cheap way to learn how to drive, and even cheaper if you're a college student

I don't think many people were recording vid since it was just practice. Besides there are gobs of AutoX vids on YouTube. To me, the best videos are of people spinning-out. FC3S91 may have some footage of that.

Oddly, no 1st or 3rd gen's attended, just a bunch of gonzo FC's.

If you're interested in trying an autocross, consider trying a practice event first, they're usually held on the Saturday before the more serious race on Sunday.

I've been to a couple of Speedventures AutoX events and they're run OK and pretty fun. The increasing car counts are testament to their popularity, but just spectating seems pretty boring. Most drivers are novices, so don't be afraid to join-up.

I definitely prefer the SCCA practices though, since the're cheaper, faster and much longer than the SV course, which is really designed for a Miata/S2000.

we do, just that no one goes haha, Stockton fairgrounds and matherfield aren't that bad =/

i got embarrassed the times i did go though (I couldn't beat that damn ford focus with the toyo ra1's or was it Advan 48's )

but then again I saw that same driver at the SCCA Banquet in rancho, turns out he was the most improved driver of the year or some crap

and if you don't run over too many cones, they'll let you get away with sliding around corners (I thought sliding saves time, I guess not =/ )

really fun times man, never knew what 240 ppl do to keep their car's cool like opening and closing their hoods to push air in n out

I think if you live like 40 miles away from stockton, you get a discount for the yearly membership (speedfreaks?)

Useful info... I was under the impression that there's some extensive registration procedures for the SCCA practices in comparison to Speed Ventures. I'm simply registered for SV but haven't done a thing with it.

^Yeah, it's pretty easy to enter the practices. The next practice is Jan 15, if you've got $65 handy and want to drive, I'll tell ya how to register

Why thank you The car is far from ready though (suspension is still all stock and the bushings are original and miscellaneous crap going wrong). Is this next one going to be at Fontana Autoclub Speedway? If so, I'll just bring the car and go from there as spectator.

Everything seems to be at Fontana Sdwy these days (xcept Lemons). Both SCCA and Speedventures events are there on Jan 15-16th. Actually that would be an excellent time to spectate if you're car's not ready. See two events in one day and compare the two.

BTW I have a set of Tokico Illuminas (rears are brand new) for a FC built with streetable lowering springs and front camber plates FS for cheap if you have some extra X-mas spending money.

Plus you get to ride in other people's cars, so you're not just watching either!
