its nothing to serious, the car was supposed to pass emissions last week and it didnt

i went to see Seth at JMC motorsports for advise. the guy takes one look at and in less than 5 minutes figures out that i had a big vacume leak comming from the injectors.

next thing you know i buy the injector o-rings, upper grommets and lower insulators, take apart the F$^%$ing thing only to discover that the injector caps are all cracked. Now im waiting on those ***** to arrive from mazdatrix. after that comes in i have to tune the car so it wont run as rich as it does then go to the smog check again, hopefully i'll pass next time

yeah thats what happens with old cars, you fix one thing and another breaks, or youre fixing something and something else breaks due to trying to fix something else, its an endless cycle, but you dont know anyone who can get you through if it dosent pass?

it's not a biggie on where you put the bov really you can have it on the turbo side or the throttle side, i have seen people place the bov on the tanks of the intercooler...it's really up to the owner

I don't think he understands the concept of recirculating.

All my crap's vented into the atmosphere, but I really should recirc it.

no..no..no i know perfectly why BOV are recirculated to the intake. i was just wondering why 2CUTE would do that instead of leaving it vent to atmosphere. im assuming she want to keep the car quiet??

lol i could care less about the car being quiet.

specifically cars with MAF sensors because they read the amount of air coming into the intake and compensate the fuel accordingly. when you vent the metered air to the atmosphere you have effectively richened the car up. the cars ecu cannot correct for the sudden rich condition because it does not know that the intake charge has lost air volume out the BOV. some cars (MSM is a good example of this) will studder and die from being over richened when you switch from the recirc to an atmospheric bov. other will stall or blow flames and in extreme conditions charcoal fouling spark plugs due to the high hydrocarbon content in the combustion chamber.

ohh i see, in that case i have a question for you, i keep failing smog due to high HCs, i have come to find that my car was running extremely rich to the point where it was really stinky. after a little tunning and lots of replaced parts, it seems like i might have a chance at passing, but now that you mentioned about the BOVs that are recirculated and are meant to be that way do you think i shoud go back to my stock BOV. im running an apexi twin chamber BOV. the smog guy i go to does not care about visual, he says as long as i pass the sniffer he dosnt care, at least thats how he is with me.

like i said the car isnt running as rich anymore but theres no guarantee that it will pass.
