Exclamation ATTENTION:Getting scammed on Paypal and here are you in the same boat?

Just recently I had a chargeback from a buyer and for those of you who have not been through this it sucks.

Heres the issue I want you guys to be alerted and protected. Even though most of us do whats right and live life honestly theres still a select few who will do what they can to rob you. If you are the person praying on the honest all I will tell you is. You have no place in my world and you will pay.

SCENARIO-

I sold an item to a customer 3 months ago. Today i realized Paypal had did a charge back on my account. Even though I submitted tracking and confirmation along with a case number. Even though I am on the right they received my item PEOPLE CAN STILL CHARGEBACK AND PAYPAL HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO PULL YOUR FUNDS UNTIL IT GETS RESOLVED.

So if you are a frequent user of paypal and are always doing business and your net amount changes every 10 minutes. You have to monitor your accounts every chance you get. It took two days of me not looking at my paypal and i catched this. If deleted all my emails this morning they would of gotten away with this.

HERES THE QUESTIONS TO ASK AND ANSWER TO YOURSELF.
So what other measures do we have to protect ourselves besides cash and pick up?

Is there any other form of electronic fund receiving where they cant charge back?

TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE HONEST AND HELP THE FELLOW ROTARY COMMUNITY THANKS YOU FOR ALL YOU DO.

Warning-
If the shoe fits wear it, If YOU ARE A SCAMMER YOU HAVE NO PLACE IN THIS FORUM.......... I WILL PERSONALLY TELL YOU (RX7ROLLER) A FELLOW MOD WILL NOT TRACK YOU OR BAN YOU. I WILL PERSONALLY LOCK DOWN YOUR IP ADDRESS REPORT YOU TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND PURSUE SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

NOTE: MAKE SURE EVERYONE PROVIDES TRACKING WITH THEIR SALE NO EXCEPTIONS. If you dont recieve a tracking wich they automatically come with now within 24 hrs or a notification from the seller. PM ME!!!!!!!!

I WILL SOON MAKE A THREAD AND STICK IT ON THE MAIN WEST CLASSIFIEDS OF ALL KNOWN SCAMMERS AND EMAILS IN WESTERN US REGION.

Last but not least, this is not a threat to you I dont want this forum to turn into what other forums have become. If you dont agree to these policies " It was nice having you here on the RX7CLUB have a great life"

Alex

The only really safe way to accept funds is by money order, unfortunately. Because of the rampant fraud on both sides of seller transactions (there are as many scam sellers out there on the intrawebs as there are scam buyers) and the lack of an actual internet police force and court system, the money-handlers all have to have some kind of resolution process to avoid being sued themselves.

Even taking credit/debit cards on internet purchases is not 100% safe for sellers - - people do scam fraud reports all the time, and unless the seller has 100% immaculate record keeping and properly protected computer systems, they are likely to get back-charged by the CC companies.

TL;DR version: people pretty much suck where honesty is concerned these days, and they suck extra hard when they think they are anonymous, unreachable, and unaccountable.

Dealing with postal money orders is a hassle & slow, but thus far it's the safest thing this side of a cashier's check.

Cash is the safest method as long as you verify the bills are legit. Large amounts of money are best if transferred from the buyer's bank directly to yours either. This is good when you sell a car. Just go to that person's bank with them and either get money in cash from a teller or transfer it into your account.

Credit cards, checks, Paypal, and other electronic forms of payment can be very convenient and safe most of the time but ultimately someone will screw you over no matter what if they really want to. I've been a Paypal user since the beginning and havent had a problem yet. This doesnt mean it's a safe way to take payments but only means that my customers have been good honest people. I just hope our RX community doesnt end up like the Honda scene where a large chunk of people are ready to screw you over.

You're absolutely right from an in-person standpoint, Juan; I was thinking more of the mail-order type transaction. Mailing cash is just asking for it to go missing, these days.

Bank-to-bank transfers are safe, but they usually charge a substantial % for the privilege unless you're a big depositor.

To be honest Paypal is 100% unsafe for us dealing with scammers. I can sell a part to a person like you did with all the tracking and everything. They can get the part then do a charge back and pull the money from their account and just disappear. At this point Paypal will notify you that they ruled in your favor, but that there were insufficient funds in the scammer's account to get your money back.

Paypal really needs to have an intermediate place for cash to sit when **** like this arises. That would make it WAY harder for scammers.
