My engine is knocking, I think it's from using 91 octane gas. Is there any place in northern Ca. that has higher octane gas?

Mods? Boost level you're running?
And no, there aren't stations with higher than 91. There is one station in Sunnyvale (?) that carries 100 octane "out back". Other than that, you can order a drum of whatever octane you want from ERC Racing Fuels (in San Lorenzo) or from VP Racing. But I don't think this is necessary in your case, I think you are experiencing something else.

no one in cali has anything higher than 91 at the pump. drive to the east coast or at least away from the wast coast and you will see 93 at the pumps. but you can get Vp or other "racing fuels" but i can tell you they wont be cheap

As someone already mentioned. A few gallons of 100 octane, then the rest with 91.

CycleGear normally carries 100 unleaded octane, as does Gotelli's Speed shop, Vishnu in Pleasanton, Almaden Racing Fuel 3010 Almaden Expwy in San Jose.
I like this place as they have 100 octane, 110, 114, 116, 118 and many turbo and n/a and nitrous specific blend fuels.
ERC Racing Fuels
610 East Lewelling Blvd
San Lorenzo, CA 94580
(800) 445-1479
Sherwin Williams sells Xylene (117 octane) and Tuolene (114 octane) about $5-6/gallon.
Do not exceed 30% mixture of this fuel with 91 as cold start idling/driveability will be a problem. Add 1 ounce of Marvel Mystery Oil for every gallon used. It will not foul catalytic convertors or cause any problems. Has been used for well over 15 years in the Buick GN community and many other turbo cars or those needing higher octane for high compression.
ie
7 gallons 91 octane
3 gallons Xylene (117)
3 ounces MMO
= 99 octane
