are you able to move the selector to the 3rd position, or the transmission wont go into 3?

Just notice that none of the gears work. All the gears from L to D is the same.

You bumped after 3.5 hours? You may get more technical and quicker responses in the FC forum:

Not sure what your situation is/the urgency on help, but a tranny is a tranny, nothing unique to a rotary....any good mechanic should be able to take a look for you

thanks for the suggestion. I took a risk and drove it home from LA to Stockton... now trying to figure out what is going on with it.

When you shift to L what happens? Can you feel it click through the positions?

You can check the shift linkage, but other than that, it's probably going to be an internal issue.

I'm thinking that too cause when I put it in park it doesn't feel like it's going all the way into park.

Try moving the selector up one click when your driving it and it won't up shift. See if it goes into neutral.

How about simply checking the auto trans fluid level? If its low, then it won't shift into gear correctly.
Next would be shift linkage, then gear selector. The auto trans itself is a pretty simple component. There's only a handful of things that go wrong.

could be a stuck shifter valve internally. i never thought an auto transmission would have a problem now a days, since everyone ditched them for manual swaps..i hope you can find a solution to it.
