Anyone here in the Antelope Valley?
Hey GJosuem!
I haven't been to this meet yet but I've lived in the area my entire life (most of it).
For a reputable exhaust shop Id strongly reccomend Eastside Muffler on Palmdale BLVD. They do awesome custom exhausts/ any fabrication. They also have good prices. Just recently they installed my Nephews HiperMax III coilovers for $130 and turn around was 5 hours. I wouldn't suggest them for any internal rotary work. They are very well experienced in almost everything else. Some of them even track their cars so you know they are real enthusiasts who know a lil something.
NITROUS- Get it filled through Western Edge Automotive on Avenue R, Palmdale, Ca.
TRACKS- we used to have the LACR Drag strip until GRANITE construction tore it down (owners of the land), there's a lot of street racing in the area which I DON'T reccomend. If you want to go legit we have Willow Springs Raceway who hosts track events and drag racing some nights. There is also BUTTONWILLOW about two hours away.
PARTS- I would strongly recommend still orderingg parts online from Racing Beat, Mazdatrix, OnlineMazdaParts.com, or any other reputable source.
LIVING- We have almost any store you would need at our mall and have a **** load of Restaurants and Movie Theaters (two have IMAX & 3D) and are really clean. I STRONGLY reccomend you eat at BUFFALO WILD WINGS as soon as you arrive. Nightlife is dead, but L.A. is only an hor drive!
FITNESS- we have many gyms as well as MMA centers.

Well, not completely foreign to the place, I lived in AV for 2+ years and graduated from Littlerock High. I actually lived (and family still lives) 2 miles from from the LACR, I remember hearing the funny cars, late at night as a youngster. I was surprised when I drove by when I was in the area in July and saw it was no more.
I was actually hoping to hear that a rotary/tuning shop was in Palmdale or Lancaster and at the very least an aftermarket/high performance parts store with rotary goodies. Bummer, I will have to meet up with you guys (if and) when I relocate.

Question? Would anybody be willing to help with a swap? Since one of my rotors has low compression, I'm thinking about picking up a another motor with a 5 speed transmission from San Diego?
we could do like an install day or something?

^^^ Im down!!! I got tools, extra jack stands, Jack, a compressor, 1/2 inch impact gun, I even got a Ingressol trailer compressor at my house. If you have an extra Impact gun its possible to do it in one day. Just the other day I did my Racing Beat Alum flywheel, Exedy stg 2 clutch, bearings, seals, etc., what more can it take to drop the engine? The reason I said to bring an extra impact gun is so that one person can work on taking off the exhaust/tranny mount/ chassis underbrace/ driveshaft/ tranny/ clutch/flwheel WHILE the other person starts taking off all the **** out of thw engine bay.
We can even do it at my house I got some space in my garage. Just bring a box of zip lock bags and a sharpie ... we don't want to mix/lose any bolts/washers. But yeah I'm down to help.

^^^^ dude, that's totally awesome where do you live at? It would be totally cool, I could provide food drinks. Sounds totally like a plan. But unfortunately it would probably be a few weeks becaue once I get the motor ad the trans then I would need to acquire the rest of the stuff for the 5 speed swap as well
I live in Littlerock actually. Let me ask you this though, have you done/ know what you're getting yourself into/ know what parts you need for the swap? It sounds like you do but Im just making sure because your join date is fairly new ....but yeah man, I got space. Ill just have to take my FC out the garage ... temporarily use a car cover. And luckily my 8 is at my body shop getting body work done (blue&black custom carbon roof overlay, hood, and trunk+ Custom Vertex Front Replica, Authentic Vertex sides, & respray the whole car Winning Blue) before I drop the new engine. So yeah, ill pm you my # and hit me up. If anything since it doesn't run (guessing by your sig) we can stay taking it apart lil by lil and in the few weeks when we you get the test of the parts it will be ready. We can compare, although it might not be exact, how a 5spd is using my VERT FC.

Yeah, dude I'm fairly new to this forum but not entirely new to cars, last time I actually did a 5 speed swap I was like 14 when I help my uncle convert an auto 84 trans am into a 5 speed. I know the general major components for the swap.
Of the top of my head would include: Trans, foot pedals, starter, master and slave cylinders, speed sensor. and the few other stuff here and there.
As far as my car, it starts every once in a while, because I'm assuming the coolant seals are blown, as well as I did a compression test and the rear rotor was about 80-90 psi compared to the front which was about 170 or so. But I really do appreciate the offer dude. And awesome that you work or own a body shop.
Your 8 is always going to be pretty sweet looking I think, that blue has a reminiscent of my old srt4 I loved that color.

Yeah, I don't own a body shop lol, the only thing I own are the pink slips to my cars. I am good friends with the owner of the body shop though (AR AUTOBODY- recently moved to lancaster). I actually work for a Water/Shot blasting company out of Camarillo.
An 84 Trans Am eh? Well in that case yoi'd be able to help me with my 82 Z28
.
Dark drake X- yeah man Im for sure going to SS14. Yeah man more help would be awesome, even if its just handing tools/parts. Even though not many tools are needed to take apart an FC, you'd be amazed how much time is wasted rolling in/out from under the car to get another tool. Itd probably also be uncomfortable with two people under the car.
So yeah, sounds like a plan. Lets keep each other updated and stick to it! If anyone else needs help on any thing, Im always down to help.

Oh... yeah, SS14 would be pretty awesome I would so be there too. Definitely, will keep everyone posted.
EDIT: as of right now seems like the car is working for my mom, she's been taking my little sister to work in the mornings. Which is not a far drive, which just means I could
hopefully get here car up and running soon.

One thing I noticed in my last trip, no one had audible exhausts on. At least I did not hear any, yet I remeber running flowmasters on my non-re car when I lived out there. I guess they have cracked down on them? Am I going to have to get a diffrent exhaust when I move out there?
So is anyone down to hit up Boquet Cyn / Lake Hughes? I went on two runs with my nephew and my friend on her GSXR. My fC ran STRONG, I am more confident in my fc than ever. Heres a couple pics. Lets get something Going guys. Ill also be at Willow this saturday.

I just used to people with loud exhausts, all i heard was what seemed like stock exhaust. I got a friend that I can tell he is driving up to my house, a minute before he gets there, from the sound of his exhaust. That is from the inside of my house, with the windows closed and doors shut. That is no exaggeration.
