Anyone have experience with freight shipping?

Can anyone make recomendations on which carrier is better and cheaper?
I was wanting to ship a short block 13b across country (california to east coast).

I've shipped around like 50boxes to the philippines via freight... and some things ended up breaking that were fragile like vases and mirrors sometimes wooden furniture. but a short block should be fine if you pack it really well. I used military freight. not sure if it's an option for you though.

i shipped my 13b short block from here, Sacramento Ca. to Salem Or. and it cost about three hundred via UPS. i had to wrap it hella good with shrink wrap because the driver bitched about the tiny amount of oil coming out of it, bastard. on a pallet, short block including flywheel it weighed 220lb if that helps any.

Freight shipping is a frickin scam. Unless you have "an account" with a frieght company you're going to pay BIG $$$. Having an account will save you 30% to 50%. If you don't have one, you can ship UPS ground....still expensive though.
