Anyone friends with jilongie or have any info on his red T2?

He moved back to Korea( I can get ahold of him) and I ended up buying his t2. He was in the middle turbo/FMIC upgrade and now I want to get it back together and on the road. If you can help with any info on the car let me know. The FMIC is 90% done and he has everything but a turbo from what I can see. I am a T2 noob so any help would be great. I bought the car sight unseen and need it running ASAP. If you want to take a look or help me out the car is in garden grove.

Hum WTF....Did you do any work on it charlie? The paper work I found states carbon apex seals. Some how I doubt that. It looks like it was set up for either a gt35r or a BNR stage 3 turbo with a FMIC.

From what I hear of carbon seals, they are strictly used for N/a, they can't handle any boost. They are gentle so they don't scar any surfaces on the way out.

Carbon apex seals aren't meant for boosted applications, they're generally for NA race motors.

http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=11011

These Race Apex Seals are specifically designed to replace the stock cast iron seals in engines operating near, or above, 8,500 RPM. These aluminum-filled carbon seals are a one-piece design, 2mm in thickness, and must be used only with our special Race Apex Seal Springs. We do not believe these seals are appropriate for turbocharged applications because of their fragile nature if subject to detonation.
So yes, kaboom.

I guess if it doesn't have a turbo on, you can try to peak in the rotor housing and try to get a peak at the apex seals with a mirror.

no i dont think i worked on it..must have been louie. and yeah carbon seals and boost dont mix. take all that stuff off and throw a stock turbo on it for now unless you have all the stuff to make it happen then do that..man if they did use carbon seals, then your screwed. try to find out if they did or not. you dont want a popped motor. its prolly set up for the 35r since thats the most popular way to go, thats my guess.
