i recently got into an accident and the insurance company deemed my car totaled. they're going to pay for 'market value' of an rx7... although im not quite sure how much that is im definetly going to see if i can get another FD before i look for something else.

i'm most interested in r1/r2 models. being modded is ok... i'd like to know the history of the use of the car. i dont mind if you tracked the car as long as the car was maintained.. so be honest, i won't mind. i'd prefer cym or bb but it seems like lately theres fewer FDs for sale so beggers cant be choosers perhaps.

the most important thing for me would be that the car has a recently rebuilt engine or brand new engine with less than 15k miles on it. i'd like a car that is in good running condition but just run whatever by me... i might be able to pull my engine and stuff out of my car so im not sure yet on whats going down. if i get to pull stuff out and i can find a car that's equipped with some of the things i already have then i'll be listing the stuff for sale of course..

just in case some of you might want to call dibs on stuff in case they go up for sale:

PFC + commander
n1 dual exahaust
m2 dp
apex'i boost gauge + column pod
1300 cc injectors
mazda reman engine.. only 8k on it.

it now has a single turbo tuned by Steve Kan to 375rwhp at 14 psi... it could easily make 400 at 14.5 psi..... check my posts and youll find more info.. pm me if your intrested.... not cheap though

 

it really depends on the car.. i'd be willing to put down some of my own money if i thought the car was really worth it.

i want to try to work with the money that the insurance company is giving me if possible. i was told 'market value'. i have no idea how they'll calculate it... but i was told its based on location so being in silicon valley that might be an advantage for me. we'll see. anyone with experience in this stuff? right now im assuming i'll receive somewhere around 11-12k for a new car... could be more.. or even less.

i actually should ask.. i wasnt at fault for this accident. some woman clipped my rear right end right before a turn on hwy17. she said she didnt see me cause it was raining and so foggy. does it seem like i should be compensated more for my car? my friend is telling me i should be getting more money.. but he's not a lawyer and he doesnt have any experience in this.

Look in autotrader. That should give you fair market value. pick the 3 highest ones.

 

You want the best advice?

Buy your car back after they total it.

Rear end accident... everything that's worth EVERYTHING is in the front. If you don't want to buy it back, ask them how much it is for you to buy it back and I'll give you the money and you give me the car heh... seriously too.

And as far as fair market value it depends on who your insurance company is... if you don't LIKE their assessment, you can do what ReZ said... autotrader is unbelievably overpriced so it's the best place to find those three highest ones.

Oh and I don't know what your friend was talking about... maybe he meant damages for MEDICAL, but you'd have to make a medical CLAIM against YOUR insurance to get any money for that. Otherwise it's just the car damages... and since it's 100% the other person's fault their insurance ends up paying, yours will go up just as much... and they totalled your car, which is pretty much the best thing for you since you wouldn't want to have some body shop weld in a new rear quarter section and screw over the chassis for autoxing and everything... so I'd say you're doing pretty good.

How much for the injectors?

 

I've got a mazda reman on order right now...and it might not get in until early next week-if you could pull the engine sooner than that, I'll see if I could cancel the order and buy it off of you. Where exactly are you located at? BTW, how much did you buy your reman for? and where?

i spoke with the insurance company a little after my posts.. i dont get to keep the car haha.. i thought since i wasnt at fault they'd let me keep it but apprently not..

anyways the very tentative items for sale are now the exhuast, dp, pfc+commander and boost gauge+pod.

this is all depending on whether or not i find another FD.. and if that FD has those following parts already installed.. but right now it seems somewhat dire trying to find a nice FD that doesnt have any problems


oh, and i was clipped in the rear right.. but it was right before a corner and on a rainy day... and yeah, i crashed the front end into the gaurdrail. surprisingly the airbag didnt deploy.. i guess i wasnt going fast enough? nothing was leaking afterwards either.. i must have reduced my speed by a lot before hitting or i just hit the gaurdrail at a good spot or something

 

eugene, sorry to hear about the accident. remember me? i sold you your black fd. anyways if your the accident was not your fault you should be compensated VERY well. the ladies insurense company should give you full MARKET retail value for the car.

 

 

I got paid $17k for my fd about two years ago. It was a 93 touring with 125k on it. I had state farm insurance. They dont go by the 9-12k like what kell blue book quotes. I pm'd you about your pfc.

 

Yes I got 19k - 2k buyback from the insurance co. for my 94 with 70k mi.
And you can insist to keep the car, it's your property, even if the insurance totals it... they're covering you, they don't own the car...

 

Well they do own the car if they total it and pay you for it, that's why you have to buy it back from them. In reality the car never changes hands, if they pay out 15k and its a 2k buyback they send you a check for 13k. It is your right to keep the car though, they can't force you to turn it over.
