Where did you go? Lake Beryissa?
It's all fun and games until you pull up to the dock and pay $5.00/gallon

Believe it or not, I skimmed semi-professionally for 3 summers when I was in high school. By "semi-pro" I ain't claiming I made any money or anything, I just got free boards from J Gordon and a couple spring suits from O'Neill.
The nearest beach to my house is 26th ave, a world class skim spot with overhead shorepound.

Fumanchu, that was probably 4 Mile.
I live about three blocks from 26th ave...a little 26th skim/BBQ meet might be fun. We oughtta wait 'till it warms up alittle bit, though, 'cause skimming in a fullsuit is begging for ball-rash.

It never warms up in Santa Cruz.
I was learning to skim until this bulldog got ahold of my board at the beach....
Its pretty easy (and really cheap!) to make your own:
Take a profile from a known good board
cut it out of some plywood
soak it in water for a day or two
weigh it down with the correect rocker bent in until it dries
varnish+varnish+varnish
Total cost: about $15
At least that's how I did it. It worked pretty well as far as I could tell, but I never got very good at it.
